Saul, you bring up a good point that most people don't consider
Jesus did not live by the rules of the current religions. Those rules have been put in place by people trying to create an identity for their religion.

Add to that, SW, the fact that Jews were required to marry at certain ages,
even religious leaders. It is highly unlikely that Jesus was not married. The celibacy and chastity thing started with the Church centuries later by people far removed from the times, mores, and Jewishness of Jesus.

Sorry Ben, I wrote the subject and then the post and then
changed the subject line. The original subject line was, "I watched The DaVinci Code the other day." That is what got me thinking about it.
I'm sure it didn't sit well but it makes perfect sense that Jesus had descendants. People started having kids in their teens and he lived at least 33 years (some say into his 50's) so that gave him 15 to 18 years to have kids. With numerous wives and couple of decades, he probably had plenty of kids.

Spoiler alert!
Your idea sounds very similar to the plot of the movie The DaVinci Code. In that movie, if I recall correctly, there are secret powers that be in the Vatican that are trying to eliminate all evidence that Jesus had descendants. Those who have seen the movie know that these secret powers were not successful at achieving their goal. The idea of Jesus having descendants didn't sit well with higher-ups.
