Hi, Whacky,
My refrigerator does this occasional humming thing, but I'm not sure if it's on some kind of energy-saving timer or not.  The ice cream is still frozen, and there are no water puddles yet, so I guess it's doing okay.  Thanks.  :)

You know what's worse? Running water. They, like, never stop running. GOSH!

Noise everywhere

My freezer, upright, is terribly loud.  It is in the utility area, behind louvered doors, off from the family room. TOO NEAR MY CHAIR.  Sometimes I just leave the room. CAN'T MOVE THE FREEZER. Energy saving devices are strange.

Good Post, makes me feel in touch with the rest of the world.

Lou

Good Post
I am right beside the refrigerator also but I haven't dared to clean behind it. Afraid? Yes very afraid we moved in with the fridge already here and by the looks of the place and the amount of cleaning I have already done it will be dirty. Thanks for the reminder.

that water running could be your automatic ice maker if you have one.  Our new fridge here has a crazy ice maker, the bucket is too small so it kicks out ice all over the place- we need to get a bigger bucket but I just love iced drinks so I'm happy for the ice.

Lol...Ours runs constantly.  Drives us crazy, but we haven't figured out how to train it, either!!...

Whacky--- A few years ago, I moved temporarily into a studio apartment in
a major city to work on an assignment. Everything, including the refrigerator and my sofa/bed, were in the same room. I became well acquainted with the noises we often overlook on refrigerators, especially when trying to sleep. I finally had to put the frig on a timer so it would turn off for a few hours and I could get some sleep. I also learned that many refrigerators are noisier today because of "energy-savings technology."
