- Go to The only reason I look forward to Thanksgiving is because of the food...
holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas are always stressful because
they bring relatives together who hardly, if ever, speak to each other all year (yes, we have some, too..

..).... in almost 38 years of marriage, I think Liz and I have had 5 Christmases to ourselves without being "expected" at in-laws or out-laws...

Food, every dish, every ingredient, has a history & a future-in our bellies
I have no favorite food, only because the ugliest vegetable can become a work of art, a monument to creativity and love, in the right hands. I like cooking bitter gourd...perhaps at an early age I learned the human body does best when it is fed all 5 tastes in Nature: salty, sweet, sour, bitter and astringent. But I am so flexible that I have tasted almost every thing once--even buffalo burger ta the NMAI - National Museum of the American Indian. I can imagine living a life talking forever and making a weekly list of foods tobuy, then cleaning and cooking the items TOGETHER, and slowly extending a plate to increasing numbers of Americans. In contradiction, I also dream of raising natural chickens, bantams for display and peacocks for pleasure. Am I a farmer at heart? Or an artist on a funny farm? AUM
