I have never experienced any of this. I wish I had. I also think its true

what Dave said.  But I think alot about my mom and I never had any smells that reminded me of her.  Maybe because it was soooo long ago.

I find nothing odd in what your experiencing. What I find hard is some people refuse to believe it happens. There are times when I smell lilacs (in the dead of winter) and I have no idea how the scent gets there, but the scent reminds me of a dear old deceased friend...

Do I smell a new post coming up soon?

Whacky, I don't believe there's anything supernatural going on, just the

natural memories that are running through your thoughts. Our sense of smell has a memory to it the same way that our senses of sight and hearing do. When you are thinking about lost loved ones, not only can you see them and hear them, but their smell comes drifting back too.

So, not a tangible ghost, but an intangible ghost created entirely by the strength of memory in the living. That's what I believe.

It is the strength of your soul at work, which encompasses theirs, not the other way round.

Whackydotter!!

Well I have that in common with your real dad too luv, I quit smoking but just over 3 years ago now.

Yes also to scents, I have two drawers in the living room, in antique tables, and I keep them only because when I open them, I have a scent of Joycie.

Don't know exactly why, maybe Hall's cough drops she used all the time, maybe book marks, candles, I don't know.

All I know is when I'm really, really down, I go pop open one of those drawers, or put on a sweater she made.Blah

Whacky...
I have an accute sense of smell, so sometimes I am accused of detecting phantom smells.  Seriously, I suspect you associate smells with lots of events and also emotions.  Obviously, you had strong ties to your parents and when you miss them, your subconcious conjures up a smell to remind you of them.  But it is a real smell, otherwise you wouldn't smell it, although that is an odd concept to grasp.

I can never understand why we humans find it so hard to believe...

Can YOU????

There's a whole world just beyond your sight and hearing. The Bible says that it's a more real world than the one we live in. The one we live in will some day pass away, but the world of the Sprit is eternal.

Of course it's your mom and dad. They spend much time hanging out with you and other family members. You have a unique gift of smell.

Luckily for me, Whacky, my sense of smell is as bad as my ability to detect a difference between light green and light blue - now Ell calls it teal - I still call it blue.

Its just you remembering the things that meant the most to you, and with those thoughts come the smells

Yes I have.
I'd be walking on a lonely country road with no one in sight and I'd smell Patchouli, plain as day. That was what someone I thought of as my soul mate wore. He wasn't dead but I did believe he was somehow there, energetically or spiritually. I think it's definitely possible for your Dad to bring that smell to you, knowing that it reminds you of him.

What a sweet thing!
When my father in law passed away, sometimes I thought I could smell him. He was a hard ranch-hand type worker, and usually had a perspiration smell, much as he loved his two hour baths in the evening....that might sound unpleasant, but it was strangely comforting. He also loved to tease and would trip us at every opportunity by sticking his foot out with lightning speed. For about the first six months after he died, we were all tripping all over the house. Every time we did, we'd say, "Granpa!!!" These things seemed to subside after about a year, we noticed. A year later we were still missing him, but the pain wasn't as intense. He was near us while we needed him. So, yeah, I believe in what you're saying and think it is exactly what you suspect. You've got loved ones surrounding you. What a blessing.

Never experienced that
but sounds kind of neat that your parents "pop" in now and then to say "Hi!". And I am sure you can smoke in heaven, cannot kill you then.
