Ahh, now that's different.
The articles I read said he was opposing gay marriage.

Successwarrior, he wasn't down on gay marriage, but
he was bashing homosexuality as SIN. THAT'S the irony that makes this so HILARIOUS!

kayottic, I haven't seen it but it's got to be funny
in light of what the superstar preacher really is like.
Once again, in good Ted's defense, I have to point out that he was against gay marriage. He was having an affair which is not gay marriage so maybe that makes it okay.

Successwarrior, you say it all too well!
Has anyone seen Haggert at the end of the movie, Jesus Camp?
Having a 14,000 person church...$2.2
Being a big shot in a mega church...$1.7
Calling homosexuality SINNERS on a full faced screen...PRICELESS!!!!
Check it out. The movie was shot way before the scandal, so it makes his huge hypocritical comments HILARIOUS with a full screen face shot the whole time!

SuccessWarrior I was with you until your last statement.
I cannot agree that all preachers, pastors, ministers, popes are what you accused them of being. Some yes, maybe they are, but what gives you the right to judge all of these people, is a legitimate question to ask yourself if indeed you are a fair and honest man! Blessings!

SuccessWarrior - they'll just splinter off into a few different churches
and continue on their merry way.
Where the circumstances that are responsible for this group finding themselves without a clear leader are unique, there is nothing unusual about churches dividing the booty up amongst themselves. The last 10 years has seen a record number of new churches built in North America. Modern day Christian denominations seem much like the single celled amoeba in that they reproduce and proliferate by dividing.

I agree that there will indeed be a battle royal for control of that church. Churches like New Life - where the highest authority is a pastor accountable to nobody above him - are most at risk from scandals such as what happened to Haggard. And you're right about another thing: nobody ever joins a large church like that because they agree with the doctrine. They all join for social reasons, and then go along with the crowd because they don't want to alienate their friends. In fact, I call these churches (which often rename their buildings "worship centers" or some other benign name because the term "church" offends some people) polite social clubs which just happen to have a cross at the front of the "worship" area.
