I am reminded of the time...

The Prophet paid a visit to the Pope in Rome. While there, he asked if he could use the telephone, since he had to give Heaven a call. The Pope said, Sure, and let the Prophet use the phone in the next room. After a few minutes the Prophet came back, and the Pope asked if the call went okay. The Prophet said, Yes, and asked how much he owed. The Pope glanced at his Finance Minister, who indicated, $10,000. The Prophet nodded to his Finance Minister, who wrote the check and handed it to his Catholic counterpart.

Several months later, the Pope paid a visit to the Prophet in Salt Lake City. While there, the Pope asked the Prophet if he could use the phone to call Heaven. The Prophet indicated a phone in the next room, and the Pope left to make the call. When he returned, the Prophet asked how the call went. The Pope said, Fine, and asked how much he owed. The Prophet said, Nothing. The Pope was surprised, since he had been forced to charge the Prophet $10,000 for the long distance call from Rome. When he asked the Prophet about this, the Prophet explained that a call to Heaven was just a local call from Salt Lake City.

Thank you strat. I had the book a long time ago
but I must not have read it.  I think I would remember something like that.

That's the mantra the sheep would say
in Orwell's "Animal Farm." A mindless mantra they would repeat over and over to drown out anyone who might have a question of the leadership.

Ben, true but if you do screw up
All you have to do is ask for forgiveness, throw a few hail Marys and maybe one reverse, and things are good again.

Strat, what's the four legs good thing?

Jesus may have already paid the price, Success....
but that doesn't mean I get to do whatever I want or avoid the difficult task of growing up.

That is refreshing!
Someone who is not spouting off the usual "Four legs good, two legs bad" mantra, in whatever form.

I don't know much about this world but I'm going to learn more

Success -
I've known a few witches and pagans in my day. As Gome said, they're just like everybody else - some good, some bad, some indifferent (those are the ones I'm really worried about).

SuccessWarrior - in my limited experience; witches, wiccans, pagans and

other people of non mainstream belief seem no different from any other groups of believers.

The same extremes in degree of belief seem to exist amongst them, with some folks having alters in their homes and trying to live a certain type of lifestyle, to some folks that treat it as simply an interest. I am unable to differentiate between any person who believes in invisible entities, in the existence of and in the ability to petition an unseen spirit world. From Catholics to Satan Worshippers, the premise is much the same.

I haven't had any of these experiences yet

I once roomed with a witch
and it wasn't one of my better experiences, but that had more to do with her than anything.  Like so many, she was hoping her beliefs would give her power.

I also once went to a Spring Equinox ceremony.  I found it very weird and have never had the desire to go back.  Basically, anytime people try to put their personal beliefs into public ceremony, I get a little weirded out.  It's like kids playing dressup and pretending... except we're adults.

Ben, as the pope's understudy, you sure say a lot of terrible things
Don't you know that Jesus has already paid the price and now all you have to do to be saved is believe that?

It may be easier to put money in the collection plate...
but the difficult work of growth is worth more in the long run. More power to your witch friend.
