Beg to differ on something . . .
Santorum and Steele notwitshstanding, those were by and large hardly conservatives who were sent packing.  That's part of the Republicans' problem -too many of them don't know what it means to be conservative.

That is all you got?

"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."

That really says nothing at all.  In fact it makes no real sense.  Adam had no father after all and the concept of children was 100% non existent at this point.  Talk about a passage that clearly shows the flaw of the Bible.

But this does not show that God ordained marriage.  Just the Adam needed to get some and God set him up.  At no point here does God make marriage holy nor does he set up any rules at all about it, just that when a man get married he leaves his parents.

You can also go here to see a really good article taking about just what the Bible really does say about marriage.  Most Christians do not follow what the Bible says in the least.

No, MountainClimber

God never really ordained marriage.  Go and find for me in the Bible where he does this.  For the longest time the church wanted nothing to do with marriages.  It was in 1563 that marriage where first to be done in front of a priest,

Marriage as we know it actually very modern.

Here is a whole lot of information about it.

The law that would allow for same sex unions here in Colorado did not pass.  it that had passed, I would not have been as upset by the amendment passing. For the most part the only reason anyone would think it makes sense to define a marriage as being between a man and a woman is because they are being childish and think that wording matters.

Kooka, to say that marriage is between a man and woman is not outdated
God ordained marriage, humans have no write to redesign it.   If two people of the same sex desire to unite -- there is always civil unions!

actually moutainclimber

the people of colorado have restricted freedom

in the name of religion and nothing else

such an amenment as the marriage protection thing neither protects marriage or people's right to choose; in fact, it abridges the latter right.

and opens up the state to lawsuits.

by hocus pocus false impressions.

people have to grow up and wake up

that which is old will pass away -- it is bankrupt --

With that remark you clearly show you do not understand what freedom is.

How is it helping freedom to take away rights from a group of people just because they have different needs in their lives than you do?
How is it freedom to keep a substance illegal that is truly no different than many legal substances?

I saw the people of my state spit on freedom yesterday because of ignorance and outdated religious ideas being more powerful that truth and progress.

kooka_lives - Yes, we should be all about rights, not taking them away.
Good post. While I understand your frustration, don't give up hope. Appropriate change takes time. We'll get there.

Kookalives, your state exerted the character of freedom more than
you will ever know, and history may teach that they were right, and most of the rest of the country was wrong!   Don't panic, you have two years to see how right or wrong the people of your state were!
