Everyone should be free to marry as they choose in all places throughout their lives.  No one marriage should have an effect on another marriage, and therefore, people may live in their own areas of comfort in every place, without imposing their ideas upon others.

I see what you're trying to say
and I tend to agree with you here. Since people will always vote their conscience and/or religious beliefs instead of an objective understanding of what true freedom is, our country may never realise the ideal you outline here, and therefore may never be able to put this ideal to the test.
