Tony, have finally read the poem. Excellent. Those internal rhymes again.
Spits, emits, blitz - wonderful. Assonance, the full works. You're getting better and better. I'm going to have to sharpen my fingertips to keep up with you.

Ska? That takes me back.
The Skatalites, Prince Buster, Madness, the Specials, the Selecter... Pork pie hats and cigarettes.  I loved dancing to ska, it was much better than the other music of the time!

posted by _dave_says_ack_ on November 6, 2006 at 3:34 AM | link to this | reply

Right, well it's taken me four hours to read all that.

Tony, I think the CDs were excessive packing really.

Blanche, I'll forgive you for the Fleetwood Mac.

I mousse try not to miss too much punning in future.

I forgot that I proposed to Tony. Tony, that's gonna make me a bigamist. But so long as you don't mind.

Tony, about those pigs. You are correct. Pinky and Perky live in the wardrobe.

MC, I just set my keyboard to French and it took a three hour lunch.

On the question of there being no need to put men down, I think it is sometimes necessary if they have bad mange.

Blanche, 'children need mothers, not rivals.' ~ very true

And because I missed the mousse, here are some films I will watch to catch up...

  • Mousses Doubtfire
  • Mousses Dalloway
  • Little Mousse on the Prairie
  • Anything with Mickey Mousse in it

Dimerick 4 Tony

I'm sorry I called you a Manc
I was drunk to be quite frank
I was almost unconscious
And I turned into  Pontius
It was due to the ale that I drank

I arrived here and it said 321 comments. I thought Dusty Bin might be here.

I've found that it is best to support from the sidelines, and not get
directly caught in the crossfire, let whoever is in the hot seat handle their own defense, but give them support without getting directly involved.  That's a strategy that has worked well for some of us.

Well, if you believe, as I do, in the Garden of Eden as an allegory, not to

blame Eve for everything (Adam still took the bite after all), but she was lured by the temptation and vanity of knowledge of good and evil first.  I think that the temmptation of our natures, as women, as being emotional and intuitive, receptive to the spirit, can sometimes tempt us, I know it did me, until experience shows some knowledge is too dangerous.

Temptation can be a bitter fruit, I'm afraid. I've learned that the hard way.

That depends on who you meet and who you talk to, Tony, the thing I like

about men, mature, thoughtful, classy men is the dignity and circumpsection, to settle matters privately, and not to interfere too much in others' personal business, that is why I asked you about this matter I mentioned.  I am embarrassed that I made a private matter too public, but I felt I had no choice.  Anyway it is history

Now back to the food!

Some are lovely others not so much. no need to generalize though. Of course men think differently otherwise they would not be men, a bit of masculinity not macho is ok.

Well, I really do think that the two sexes are a million miles apart.

Yes, I've got DSL too.
It's great. It's free too - if I pay for a landline for the phone with Bulldog, they give me broadband with it, and it costs nowt. That means nothing, in Northern English speak! dave says nowt. He;s from Yorkshire and probably has several pigs in his bedrrom!

Tony, I live in a cold Northern climate, too, and someday, I swear I will
celebrate one birthday in someplace sunny like Australia.  Just once I'd like for it not to be raining. And fish and chips are good, let's put those on the menu, where's MarieClaire gone?

posted by Blanche. on November 5, 2006 at 1:43 PM | link to this | reply

Yes, I am a typical bachelor.
Food for me is some fish, a potato and some peas, and some chocolate afterwards! Blanche, don't you wish your birthday was in the summer? Mine is in mid-January - yuk! The tragedy is, fish stocks are running out, so fish and chips is going to have to be a thing of the past! Shame.

posted by Antonionioni on November 5, 2006 at 1:41 PM | link to this | reply

Hm, well, it seems Tony is a typical bachelor, we may have to go shopping!

and stock the larder for him...what do you think? appetizers, chips, dips, (guacamole, since everyone's talking about avocados, I'm in the mood) and crab dip, cheeses, wines, beers, a few other liquors like Scotch, whiskey, brandy and something for the non-alcoholic drinkers, ginger ale, ciders

Well, what else?  The cake of course, chocolate, something really yummy like a cherry chocolate or German chocolate, very rich.  Ice cream:  2 or 3 flavors: Neapolitan, chocolate, Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia, Turtle caramel.

Then the main dishes:  soups, my grandfather's borscht and french onion, for the cold weather.  A little something else: no, wait, Bouillabbaisse (sp?), with Grand Marnier, Strat's recipe, he posted for me a few weeks ago.  Very expensive, but worth it.   A lot of fish, sushi, sashimi, salmon, salmon cheese dip, fresh-caught coho or Copper River salmon, locally caught here.

A little variety ethnically: Indian, Mexican, French, what do you think?

posted by Blanche. on November 5, 2006 at 1:28 PM | link to this | reply

Oh, yes, please, let's do, MC, I'm in the mood for a party! What do we

Blanche, we must celebrate your birthday!
virtual candles and all on the chocolate birthday cake and the drinks. we'll have to see what Tony is hiding in his fridge of his, bet ya it is full of goodies.

Tony and MarieClaire, I forgot about Guy Fawkes day. Nov 5, is just before
my birthday tomorrow, so someday I will have to come visit England or New Zealand, just to get treated to a light show near my birthday and pretend that it's for me! Oh, that sounds terribly narcisistic, I suppose, but it's better to celebrate than to mope, I think.

Tony,
Your (rhyming) comment was very much appreciated and thoughtful, I am pleased to see that my thoughts are well understood by you and many others I hope. Credit to you for your astute observations. My chocolate craving has been temporarily satisfied, until next time. I attack these choc. bars with a vengence and passion second to none.

Tony, c'est le 14 juillet la Fete Nationale...
this is when the fun happens. Here in NZ, we did have Guy Fawkes celebrations, I snuck up on the neighbours fireworks show for free, spying from Jasmine's bedroom, looking straight into their backyard. Must send you some pics to prove it. I started a poem on fireworks but did not finish it, cuz I was not happy with it.
