TV, you have a great point
If ole freaky lips was talking down to me and I had the education that Dawkins does, I might be upset. These people play their cons out to the point that they trick themselves into thinking they are great men and can talk down to people.
Yes, good point.
Going into an interview like that though, you must suspect that kind of response. If you have ever debated with someone entrenched in religion, you know they are going to say things like that and tell you that if you would just come to god and be more enlightened, you would have a full understanding. They are saying that you are too stupid to understand when you are too smart to fall for it.
And we didn't get to see the whole thing. Something obviously must have happened for Smiley to drive up in his truck and cast the heathen off the property.

Cindy7, Satan must be having a heyday
because religous impropriety in the media is getting to be quite common. And that's just the one's that actually make the news. Think about all the lesser known instances and then think of all the cover ups that are working.
What we are seeing is truly the tip of the iceburg.

Yes, his irritation
seemed out of place. But, we are seeing one small clip out of a perhaps much longer interview. It's hard to know what might have happened up to that point. And, I could see getting really irritated with his condescending tone.

I'm saddened that Church leaders who fall prey to public sins give Christianity a bad name. Satan's having a good laugh at all who will now have further reason to stay away from the faith.

Gome, I'm surprised that we don't hear more of these things
but the smaller fish probably just disappear without much impact. How many does it take though before people start to figure out that these people are just conmen?
Is there a mailing list for religious folk because I have a friend in Nigeria that's a prince and has had his money legally frozen and just needs some good hearted American to help him free it up. Out of gratitude, they will get some of the billions of dollars.

SuccessWarrior - I just wonder when the collective human intellect will
advance to a point where all of these evengelical types will be exposed?
Like what are they other than enigmatic public speakers feeding off of the human propensity of denial necessary to blindly believe that someone is a representative of God? Another one is exposed for what he truly is, why are people surprised?

TV, I can tell you who the arragant one was in that conversation.
I was confused with one thing about Dawkins. He was upset. You could see it in his face. He was upset by the lies that the good preacher was saying. I don't think that I would get upset. I would expect it and for me it would be more like this.
If a kid tells you that Santa Claus is real and you explain that reindeer don't fly, it's impossible to get to all the kids in one night even by skipping the poor kids, and that a bag couldn't hold everything, and the kid says, "You're wrong, I know Santa exists," would you get mad?
Me, I would just shrug and let them learn.
My guess is that Ted knows what he's preaching is false but he was getting a, dare I say it, a buttload of money.

No doubt Kid.
Work as hard as you can to fight gay marriage while going each week to your gay masseuse for a colon massage. It doesn't get much more hypocritical than that.
Or maybe it's okay because he wasn't going to marry the guy. It's hard to pin down the rational lies sation these guys do.

And that reason should be plausible. I find it hard to believe that Haggard just threw the meth away. I think the guy's flat out lying about that. Woe be unto scribes, Pharisees and hypocrites - and Haggard is sounding more and more like a hypocrite.

Kid, I just made that up
but if you expect people to believe that you throw your meth away, you should come up with a reason.

It surely was a time of weakness for Ted!
However, he can respond to the grace being offered to him by the Almighty and turn his life around when and if he decides to
clean up his act, accept responsibility for his actions and repent! The grace he needs is available, but the acceptance of the grace makes it a gift from God who is all loving and forgiving. We need to pray for him! Blessings,

If Haggard bought meth to toss it out so kids didn't get access to it, I'm the Pope. (The family joke is that I'm Benedict XVII.)

Sorry
I just have big gaps in my TV viewing from the times I was on the move.
BTW, didn't you just love the end of the interview with Ted Haggard lecturing Richard Dawkins on not being arrogant? Unbelievable.

Sorry, I've never seen In Living Color. And I pretty sure I read a quote this morning where he said he "always" threw the meth away so that would indicate he'd done it several times.
I would also ask, who starts with meth? Wouldn't you start with something a bit softer and work your way up to it? I could be wrong but I think of that as a pretty hardcore scary drug and not something to start out with.
