Two towers were built in early 70's or late 60's.
They cahnnel wind so effectively they have to close the plaze in between due to gusts over 70 mph at times.

Maj, The wind on certain corners was unbareable...and this wasn't even on a
particularly windy day, for Chicago that is...

Maj, This was actually written for a publication I contribute
to targeting filmmakers, but I thought I'd publish it here on blogit too, thought it's a bit long for a blog post.
I also wound up bring a case of pneumonia home with me from Chicago. I didn't mention that;-(
