Success Warrior I think Xeno-x has the answer to the
conflict: "If all churches are the one true church and all the churches are not the one true church then is matters not who belongs to what church." Nor does it mater if one does not belong to a church. Maybe we could get this passed into law! Then we could pass an addendum to the law that states, Everyone must agree to disagree and everyone must refrain from  attacking verbally or non verbally anyone who does not belong to a church. And anyone who does not belong to a church must refrain from attacking verbally or non verbally anyone who does belong to a church. No I am joking! Attacking the non- religious beliefs of another is just plain wrong and attacking the religious beliefs of another is also just plain wrong. Who does it or why is insignificant to me because my personal belief is simply: wrong is wrong and right is right! Keep writing, faholo

i had infallible literature too

but it proved false.

then the question is

if every one of these is the one true church and every other one isn't . . .

actually no question at all

no matter what church you belong to, you are in fine shape.

Plus, if you piss off the government, they could shut down your money

I agree with you, Success
I'm not sure I want to hear weight-loss tips from the clerk at the video store when a drug makes me gain weight, nor do I want to hear tips on how to snap myself out of depression from the grocery store clerk I referred to in an earlier comment. My insurance carrier pays health-care professionals to do that - yet microchips with my medical history in them would give these armchair "professionals" (the video-store and grocery clerks) the right to access my medical history, in addition to using my microchip to pay for the groceries or rent those DVDs.

I'm sorry to disagree Gome but I have seen Mormon literature and

it clearly states that they are the only true church in these latter days.

I'm on the fence for rfid.  If it was just for id, that would be one thing.  Like you said, it would be nice to just walk to places or have your house or car unlock as you approach.

I don't know if I want to hear from the video rental clerk, "So Mr. Warrior, how's that troublesome jock itch going for you?"

SuccessWarrior - no way the mormons are the only one true religion

I have infallable literature called "the Watchtower" that states otherwise.

To add a little bit to some very good points made by others. We will not see a day in our lifetimes where RFID implants become mandatory. Despite the fact that the biblical interpretation of the "mark of the beast" is just one interpretation of just one religion, there is no disputing the influence that members of that religion hold in political circles. The current religious climate will insure that the debate over the use of such technologies rages on for years to come. Initial uses, if they do come to pass will be voluntary. I mentioned proposals for border crossing into the USA that are currently being considered. This is something that I would gain from immensely, ....where do I sign up? .. is my attititude towards this specific application.

Kid, that's my concern too. Who can get the info.

Speaking of those preferred cards, I have one for my grocery store.  It's either that or pay extra and there is only one grocery store here.  So they track my purchases and sometimes give me coupons.  They pick which coupons.

My son is 2 1/2 years old now and we have bought Huggies for him since he was born.  Every time we buy more Huggies, we get a coupon for Pampers.  They aren't trying to help me, they are trying to control me.  We give the coupons to a friend that uses Pampers and they give us their Huggies coupons that they get in the mail.  With the rfid, you won't be able to trade coupons.

To saul_relative

There are some technologies so problematic that they should not be used. Our ability to create new technologies - like the implantable microchip or RFID tag - far outstrips our ability to cope with the ramifications of such technology. Just because something can be done, that doesn't automatically mean that it should be done. I feel we, as a society, must think long and hard about the ramifications of implantable microchips or RFID devices.

I alluded to the possibility that these microchips would replace plastic store discount cards (Chicago's Jewel grocery-store chain calls them Preferred Cards). They would likely also include details of your credit and medical history. Do I really want the grocery store clerk to be able to access my psychiatric history when she scans my implanted microchip to give me a discount on milk? Given the way people see psychiatric problems, I know I don't.

As long as they give the church 10% of their money,

they have been promised that they won't go to hell.  How high into heaven they get after that depends on how well they follow the rules.

They do have the benefit of being the only true church on the face of the earth at the present moment.

Beast, schmeast, SW. Somebody's taken the bible and given it a slant.
But, then, don't they always?  With every advance in technology, there's a downside.  And then there's the religious interpretation thereof.  Everything new fosters fears of the coming Apocalypse, the Beast, the Rapture, the Tribulations, and the Second Coming.  And what the hell do Mormons have to worry about? They're predestined, aren't they?
