If you're going to help them then you'll have to do it
Because you want to and not for any thanks or praise from anyone. It's clear that these kids are taking advantage of you but also clear that you're allowing it.
You must tell them how you feel and that they need to start being grateful for all your time, work and money that you've spent on them or they're going to loose it.
It isn't wrong of you to demand respect from your family.
