This is either a "kill em with kindness" ploy or a few "Crownies" doing the talking. In any event ...thank you.

visionaryviolet -you should go back and read your previous comments before
suggesting that I'm not catching your drift.
I'm understanding loud and clear what you are trying to say. The communication problem between us however, lies in the fact that I stopped thinking as you do two decades ago.

actually i made no assumption whatsoever that you had that goal. in fact i don't think you understand my point at all. which explains why your response is so hostile.

visionaryviolet - no one can argue that the promotion of peace and harmony
is the high road.
However, you have made an assumption that it is my goal to promote discord while wantonly attacking people. Hardly, my intent is to voice a divergent religious opinion while using facts, logic and reason as the framework. It is only viewed as an attack by those who refuse to grant the same considerations that they themselves demand.

Gomedome.
I am truly sorry if I offended you because I did not intend on it.
Let me just say to you that I am in no way religious.
I was simply pointing something out. another way of looking at the situation. Elevated thinking to me is just when the goal is peace and harmony. To me the way to achieve this is by learning tolerance and acceptance. Rather than attack. people always say it is easier said than done yet they rarely try and I just think the world would be a better place if they did.

visionaryviolet - now isn't that a typical remark
I guess we can assume that "elevated thinking" would be a religious opinion that you agree with. It wouldn't even occur to me to leave such a condescending comment on someone's blog but then again, I don't have invisible friends to use as justification for speaking to others in that manner. Within the attitude of self justification that has prompted you to leave such a comment, you've answered your own question as to why I write this blog.

visionaryviolet - that is a very easy thing to say when you are not on the
receiving end.
Religion, religious constructs and all of the misinformation that it proliferates are responsible for some of the biggest problems that our species faces. If you view what I post as spreading negativity, again I suggest that you don't read my posts. There are a growing number of us in this world that view the erosion of the influence of Christian religions in our daily lives as a decidedly positive thing.

you can justify it any way you like but as long as people continue to attack eachother in this world there will be war. It is so so so easy to sit back and complain it is a bit more of a challenge to actually grow beyond all the illusions of this world. To begin to do that would be empowering yourself and others. Think about it. your just empowering negativity. why? It just breeds hatred.

SuccessWarrior - that's the point, for some of these folks, this blogging
medium is the first time that they have ever seen anything but their own home grown religion.
Somebody has to object.

Bhaskar.ing - the word tolerance is the key in my thinking
The promotion of tolerance for all who are law abiding is the advancement of a worthy ideal. I will stop by your post in awhile.

I'll add my amen to the previous two comments
If religious people would just their voodoo quietly and to themselves, I don't think anyone here would care. But they don't. They kill people. They try to change science. They try to dictate to everyone else how we should live. If we don't say anything, they may take that as permission to continue this unacceptable behavior.

Rarely do I get to see in the believers of a religion open and flexible to others' point of view. If a religion cannot teach tolerance, then that religion is worth shunning, because it is akin to breeding hatred. People have killed each other with great glee in the name of religion, and have cosidered it as an act of virtue. Yes. I totally with your viewpoint. Today I'll post a piece on the universality of religions, and I'll be happy if you can go through the post.

visionaryviolet - you are suggesting that it is an unanswered question of
some sort, it is actually much simpler than that.
Religious folks are always taken aback at seeing opinions that counter their own religious views. Many people truly believe that they alone are on the one true path and that the solution to all of the world's ills rests within them spreading their faith. It has never occurred to these folks that there are other world views just as valid as theirs. If people could just go about their lives believing whatever works for them and leave the unwilling out of it, I would not care less how bible thumpers act. But the reality is that some religious groups are trying to shape the society that I live in to suit themselves and their beliefs, without consideration for the beliefs, or even the rights of others. There is a sense of entitlement amongst those of certain Christian faiths. They feel they have a right to disparage without impunity, those who do not believe in their godly constructs. Excuse me for not taking it lying down.
