FranklyMydear1 - the answer to the question you pose in your closing line

Would make a good blog topic.

Like really, where have all of these types of people come from? Do some areas of our country have something in the drinking water? I don't get it and never will understand how an individual can graduate from college, yet still hold things that are obviously false as beliefs. It takes a special ability to elevate one's denial to that level.

ummm...I was going to make a clever secular comment...
...the nI saw Success Warrior's comments and thought, what's the use...oh, and you know that our own Stockwell Day, believes the earth is only 7000 years old and that men walked the earth with those fake dinosaurs? It makes me feel warm and cozy knowing he's in charge of our national safety...where did all these morons suddenly come from?

TVBlogger - Satan must have done that just after he invented booze and
gambling.

Sunnybeach7 - absolutely there will always be some folks that are capable
of blocking out all that refutes what they believe.

SuccessWarrior - back in the 60's when I was in grade school
One kid brought in a couple of little plastic dinosaur toys to school. The nuns handled it very diplomaticaly, they informed us that the existence of dinosaurs was probably a hoax; "So far all that there is to prove their existence is a few piles of bones found here and there around the world. They could be the bones of anything, probably elephants and other animals mixed together." Talk about being in denial.

gome
No matter what can be proved or disproved, some will always still believe what they want to believe. It's a sad, sad fact of life.
