Naut, I obviously agree that this guy belongs in a U.S. jail..

as to the other trash issue, for crying out loud, the Americans in large part make it sound like we're shoving it down their throats!!! The last time I checked it takes 2 parties to sign a contract...

Sounds like Rumored has rant brewing on this.....

It's really hard to fathom the thought process (if there was any!) behind that judge's decision! And yes, he did just drive back across the border. Since he has legal residence status here, they couldn't stop him.

Apparently he's working in some store in St. Catherine's now. And like many others, I certainly hope this isn't the end of the story, but I suspect this might drag on for a while, since the wheels of justice are turning very slowly indeed...

Just his morning I read that a guy who had killed a man and wounded several others in a store robbery in 1994(!) was finally convicted to 25 years in the slammer, after years of legal maneuvering...

I think we all agree that this guy should be sitting in a Buffalo jail.

Regarding the other business, I am one of many Ontarians who are not at all happy that our Toronto garbage is being trucked into Michigan. We do have very suitable locations, in particular some hard-rock mines near Kirkland Lake, that were seriously considered. They're mined out and totally safe, in that nothing could ever leach out into the the underground water table. Nonetheless, there was a lot of political wrangling going on.

And at one point some of our politicians talked to some of your polititicians, telling them that we had all this garbage (After all, Toronto is now the fourth-largest city in North America.) And your politicians said, okay, you have all this garbage, but you have money too, don't you? And or politicians said, yes, we do.

And that's when your politcians said, well, if you have garbage and money, why don't you bring it on over, both the garbage and the money.

And our guys said, well, if you insist...

I am astounded

that a judge (who is supposed to protect society regardless of country) would give a convicted criminal such a choice. The judge should be locked in the cell with this criminal for a week or two and then lets hear his opinion.

Nautikos, that doesn't sound right. He shouldn't get a free pass, just

cause he's married to a Canadian. What was that judge thinking? If he's been a teacher here in New York, and living and commuting across the border, surely they could nail him on some sort of international statutes, is there a rest of the story here? Did he really just get up out of the courtroom and drive back across the Canadian border, scott free?

Why is either side accepting those types of trash? Why would Michigan allow Canada to dump on them. Why would Canada allow a sex preditor to be dumped scott free into Canada? Dumb..de..Dumb, Dumb.

Let's see, hmmmmmmmmmm, I'll give you one sexually perverted and trashy American in exchange for ohhhhh, hmmmmm, how about 100,000 tons of trash from Canada . . . at a reduced rate . . . .

OK, truth be told, that man should have been thrown in jail (in Buffalo, NY), with the key tossed into some dusty corner of the prison. And you lovely Canadians should stop bussing trash into my wonderful State of Michigan!!!

And regarding that trash business, I have never quite figured that out. Ontario isn't an over densely populated province, is it? I've driven through its back roads and seen the wide open spaces (with perfect spots for a new dump site!) . . . so why are we accepting all this garbage???????????

thanks for dropping in! Yes, I too am amazed that this sort of thing is possible! Just shove the perp (who in this case is also a perv) across the border?! But I'm sure we haven't seen the end of this case yet! In fact, I may stick my own nose into this and write to Ottawa!
