Holidays (holy days) are an excuse to celebrate life.
Halloween is a scary fun adventure for little kids who go trick or treating, and a big fat moneymaker for candy companies and clothing manufacturers who come up with costumes. Any religious aspect of it has long since been lost in commercialism. It boggles my mind that some people make a big stink about arcane superstitions and try to spoil it for the rest of us.

i know a few people that don't "celebrate" Halloween
because of their religious views.  Why do people feel the need to drink heavily on St. Patrick's Day if they are not Irish?  What about Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy?  I loved your post - but many people just like to do certain things a year for a traditional reason.  My jewish cousins were jealous of the fact that we had a Christmas Tree and they didn't.  My father was an athiest and my mother was Jewish - why did we have a tree anyway?  Why were we celebrating Christmas?

When I was little I enjoyed Halloween so much.  My mother would walk with us from door to door. I always looked forward to the candy. hahahaha Halloween is for the little one's to enjoy, and as an adult, I love seeing children enjoy dressing up and eating their candy. It is just a fun day for kids!
