Wow this is so true, Sunnybeach!
My Dad used to say it is all in your attitude! I think of the word Beatitudes as meaning, Be of the Attitude because to me if the beatitudes were really lived and practiced our lives would become more positive and negativity could be a thing of the past. Keep Writing!

I think it's hard to prevent it from creeping back in occasionally.
It's good that you recognize this and can take action.

What I'm surprised at
is how despite knowing how negativity affects my life, I keep letting it back in. I will reach a high point and think I will never allow negativity in again... and then before i know it, it's crept back in. It is so destructive and I am disappointed when I've allowed it in again, but I'm happy I now recognize it and take steps to remove it from my thinking.

How very true this is. It sounds like a great book. Another thing is that in our mind, we picture everything before it happens. If we want a drink of water, we actually picture ourselves getting up and getting it...and so it is what we create. The same thing with good thoughts and negativity.

Your Life Follows your Words
That is the title of a book I'm reading right now. I can't believe I have spent most of my life speaking negative words out into the spiritual realm. When we say things like "I'll never get a job" or "I'll never lose this weight" or "this marriage is doomed"...we are setting ourselves up for that failure. And Satan loves to continue whispering those thoughts to us that WE have spoken. I have began a type of experiment over the past 2 weeks to only speak positive things, to only speak words that bring life, to pray boldly thanking the Lord for things that haven't even happened yet (ie. Thank-you Lord that you are healing my husband. Thank-you that you will bring reconciliation to our marriage, thank-you that you give me peace and joy....you get the point). It has changed my life. The Bible says our words either bring death or life. So what do you want?....it's up to you. We have more power with our words than we can begin to know.

This is so true. And poverty itself (unless it is severe, providing no food and no shelter, etc.) doesn't have to be a negative experience.
One has to truely love and appreciate the things you have.
I have been living with not much for a few years now, due to circumstances. At first I was antsy, not feeling like I have enough. Always stressed that I couldn't work and feel like I was "accomplishing" anything.
After changing my perception to that of loving what I have around me, and having the time to spend with my kids, it changed my whole attitude.

Sunnybeach7 - negativity or a sense of "defeatism" is the main constrictive
shackle holding people in poverty.
Poverty may not necessarily be a lack of material possessions either as true wealth encompasses the entire realm of well being. I've always been a proponent of the power of positive thinking and have always found that positive perspective produces positive results.
