I think that's the point of this book for me
From the reviews I read of this book and books like it, not much (if anything) new is being said.  It's being said in a new way that people enjoy but the point is that it's now okay to talk about it.  It's okay to get the guy on TV and get him more press.  It's not being hushed up or brushed over.  It's a sign that times are changing for the better.

SuccessWarrior - I think we are currently witnessing a shift in critical

mass pertaining to a believing majority.

In past decades religious belief had an iron clad grip on society. It didn't matter much if an individual had doubts about what religious leaders were expousing, to speak up or even to simply ask questions was discouraged on a number of levels. The non believer has always been depicted as a lesser being, untrustworthy, prone to reprehensible acts and an undesirable to society. To admit non belief was and in some places, still is, a sure way to garner the wrath of the believing majority but this is changing. The influence of shifting religious demographics has played an important role in this change, the believing majority is no longer of one religion. Concurrently scientific discovery and a common knowledge base that is expanding exponentially are more and more rendering antiquated religious doctrine as redundant. Recent scandals and crimes amongst religuious leaders being brougth to light for the first time in history have added even more doubt to the collective religious mind set.

As all of this has been transpiring, educated populaces are finding traditional religious messages, relying heavily on the observations of primitive man, to be inadequate. Now that the number of non religious people is growing, the grip that religion held in our daily lives becomes even more tenuous. People can now voice their doubts, it is becoming increasingly safer in our societies to do so. The momentum of the shift away from organized religion is accellerating, despite claims by religious folks to the contrary. It is my hope that within the lifespans of my grandchildren that the ancient religions will take their place in our history classes alongside of many other ancient and outdated religious beliefs.

Okay, if you came from Gome's blog to mine, you're right
that could be construed as a minor clue

Ahhh
so maybe YOU'RE Richard Dawkins.  Thanks for understanding.  Yes, your blogs are similar but since I'd already responded to Gome's blog, you'd think I'd have a clue.  Early morning fog... that's what I'll blame it on.  That's it.  Anyway, the guy's book looks interesting so thanks for giving it a little more press.

TV, the blogs are similar so it's understandable.

The clue here is that there was no use of the word "knuckleheads."

If it helps, I lived in London for a year and a half.

I'm blushing
I don't know why I thought I was responding to gome... you're not from canada.

I knew you'd like that book
In fact, as I was watching the interview I decided I had discovered your secret identity... YOU ARE RICHARD DAWKINS... except you claim to be from Canada and he has a strong British accent.  It was a funny theory for about 2 seconds.

I believe scientists would call God "nonfalsifiable" - it is impossible to prove either that God exists or that there is no such thing as God. Having said that, however, there are going to be things out there in Real World Land currently called miraculous, which will later be shown to have a logical cause based on scientific fact.
