Success -
Good post! Though I don't think it will happen any time soon. There are too many who run churches who are also run by their egos.

There is a huge difference between East and West in the very definition of enlightenment, as I'm finding out in my embryonic research into things like yoga. We in the West see enlightment as a profound intellectual insight, while in the East, enlightenment is seen as becoming one with ultimate Reality.

TV, there will always be people like this but
I still think that if you are going to take people from money, you should give them something of value in return.

One flaw in your theory
Is Dr. Robert Schuller of the Crystal Cathedral.  In my view he's done exactly what you wish... focused mainly on self-help with a little God sprinkled in.  At least that's how I remember him.  However, based on personal experience with him, when you got right down to it, all he cared about was money and power too.  He still stripped away the retirement checks of little old ladies while driving around in a limo and behaving like a tyrant.

See that's the problem... it's always humans leading these movements and humans are flawed and weak.  Take people out and now you've got something.  ha!
