FranklyMydear1 - I have to agree - none of the problems that face mankind

will ever be solved with religion at the forefront.

The partisanship of organized religion, with all of its inherent discriminitive and segregative practices is an impediment to solving anything. If it isn't the extremists on the other side of the planet that want to blow us all up, it is our own homegrown bible thumpers who want to convert the world to their way of thinking.....and the saddest part of all of this is that they will all claim that their religious beliefs are benevolent in nature.

This whole issue of whose side you're on is getting completely outa hand
and I think most of the troubles are being exasperated by the notion of "you;re either with us or against us". With that kind of dead end logic, or threat, people become motivated by fear and not much else. There are bigger fish to fry, bigger problems in the world that need solving right now, yet we've regressed back to a time where religion and politics are again one and the same. There's the Christians and the terrorists. Not much else. And if a tenth of the energy and finances that are expended fighting this smoke and mirrors conflict (that affects a few million people), perhaps a solution could be found for the most pressing problem of the day, which in my opinion, is global warming (affect every damn one of us)....but we can't do this because we can't seem to get past whose side you are on.

faholo - it is nowhere near as simple as you suggest

In reality I care little what others believe. What I do care about is how they attempt to control the society that I am a part of in accordance with their own beliefs and how the actions of religiously motivated people are quite often detrimental to the world we all must share. It is these realities that I am ultimately speaking up against. I have absolutely no doubt that if mankind does in fact author its own demise, that irrational religious belief will be one of the biggest factors.

Why do you worry so much about what others believe or
do not believe? If you are convinced you are right then live it with all your heart and soul and others live what they believe without trying to convince you are right. Be who you are and be at peace with your beliefs and you will be happy! We do not all have to believe the same, but we all must be true to our selves! Keep writing, blessings!  faholo
