heyastuff - first off: a belated welcome to Blogit and then an apology
For not answering your first comment of a few days ago. I have been extremely busy for the last little while and have been lax about commenting during that period. ......great entertainment can be found in the reactions of some of the folks around here to my opinions. There is a small clique of bloggers that if given the chance, would censure any religious opinions that they do not agree with. Their efforts, remarks and actions are completely hilarious to me but they will never see this. All I ask of anyone who I meet here is to make their own judgements. If I am a in fact jerk, I want it to be from earning the title, not from someone's obtuse perspective as to what they think others should believe.

Schatz - that is the undeniable fact - we are not all cut from the same
cookie cutter.
Further, many of us are not products of the same culture as our detractors. The comments I sometimes receive from these people tell me that they think the world is one big extension of America. I am grateful however that their worlds are as small as they are, if they ever did leave their little religious enclaves there is no doubt that they would start a war just about every where they went. When the disdain they attempt to levy against others is fully examined, it is really a one sided deal. They feel they are free to say just about anything they want about anyone who does not believe as they do but once they run into a divergent opinion they never seem to have a rebuttal. Instead we are treated to personal insults and comments that are intent on disparaging the author of opinions they do not embrace. To a great extent, I feel sorry for them, the world will never fully comply to their wishes. This leaves them with the only option of adjusting reality to fit into their distorted views.

nonsense from Christians
Hello. I absolutely love your blog. I have had a heaping dose of nonsense from Christians, personally and professionally. The most recent dose blogged on Friday called Life in Words and Pictures (tie me up and burn me down!) about being an ethical situation at work. And all because of two out of 32 students in an adult college class who would be better placed in a preschool for blooming fanatics. Would love your comments and suggestions. Thanks, Lisa.

*SIGH*
What happened to not telling other people what to do, and staying busy with our own lives? Conquer yourself, not the world. No one can tell another person how to think, or what is real. Reality is all subjective. I just can't stand the narrowmindedness (is this a real word, or just one that I like to use? lol) that allows people to tell other folks what to do, all the while ignoring their own problems. You and I both know what opinions are likened to, and if you don't like mine, and I don't like yours, then why are we still sniffing one another's so incessantly? I just spoke to God and He did say to keep up the good work. Even if I suspend all my logical beliefs and say that God does exist in the form that so many Christians believe, I think He would commend you and I for our honest thoughtfulness. Without disbelievers like us, what would happen to all the missionaries? The preachers? The outreachers? They'd all be outta work. We aren't made from one cookie cutter, or even all from the same dough. We should be allowed to be ourselves. Without being accused of picking fights or ridiculing anyone. You're blogging about your opinions, same as the rest of us are. Geez. If you don't like it in
some way, why are you reading it??

SuccessWarrior and TVBlogger - I have had similar comments left in the past
by a number of different bloggers.
They just don't seem to comprehend what such a remark actually means to me as a person who does not believe that the entity they are speaking with exists. Where these types of comments are intended to illustrate the individual's disdain for me, it accomplishes nothing even close to that. I view it as a warning that the individual leaving such a comment talks to invisible people and about me no less. How can I view such a comment as anything but humor and at the same time, have a minor concern for the sanity of the individual that would write such a thing?

I like Homer the Heretic's view:
Hear this in your best Homer whine. "What if we picked the wrong religion? Every week we're just making God madder and madder."
Of course, I'm kidding... sort of. While a born again Christian, I had Christians who followed another version, tell me I was not a real Christian and I was going to hell. I've had a Mormon break off a conversation when I mentioned my brother was a Methodist pastor. Everyone is convinced that the version they've heard about is the only right one and they are somehow superior to all others who happened to hear something else. No humility in the face of the truly unknowable.
And I'm glad someone finally told God what you were up to. For an omniscient and omnipotent being, his followers of all religions sure do think he needs a lot of help. They must secretly think he's pretty incompetent.

I've spoken to God about your constant redicule of
Christianity and have asked Him to deal with you for your harrassment. Be expecting to hear from Him.
