Blanche.

oh well, we do get grumpy at times! BTW, too bad M doesn't blog any longer. Back in Feb, when he was Prof. Peabody, we had a fun discussion on the post I did on the term 'neo-con'. You should take a look! (An Aside on Political Semantics, Feb 8, in Naut's View)

And regarding that job, I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

He gets grumpy, and feels negelected if I'm on here too long, Naut,

He's right,bu tI have so much fun with most people here, I can't stay away, like the punster, Dave, Troosha, Mneme, Avant Garde, Bhasakr.ing, wordplay is life's manna to me, I cannot resist. It just feeds my creative soul, so it's well worth the money and time to me.

Anyway, especially if I get this job, I hope to hear back from any time, at the arts and antiques auction gallery, Pacifc Gallery, I'll be in hog heaven, a part time job that's fun, have mohey again, a new home, more freedoma and independence and blogging. Life is good.

I'm glad that M is coming around! I think this will be a good move for you, in more ways than one. So he thinks Blogit is 'frivolous'? Actually, I think he's right, but than what's life without a little frivolity...

fionajean,

we're rapidly approaching the season when I would love to have a need fo air conditioning!

When it comes to snow, close to the Lake here in Southern Ontario we don't get all that much, certainly much less than in other parts of the country. Even here, if I drive ten miles or so to the north in winter, they may have a foot of the stuff, even though we down here may have none...

posted by Nautikos on October 17, 2006 at 5:41 PM | link to this | reply

Nautikos, no, lol, I did not tell M "you said so," your second thought was

rght. I don't tell him most of what goes on on the blog, he shrugs it off as frivolous anyway.

BTW, he's come around slowly, I saw the house today, it's a little rundown, but it's still a deal.  It's that he's nervous about taking on more, but really, I am more than ready to get out of here, and I know we can handle it.  He'll just have to trust me on that.  He's off tomorrow, I'll take him around to see it, see what he says

muser,
it's probably foolish of me, but I've always enjoyed storms. That is as long as they don't have twisters in them, as this one did...

thanks for visiting. You visited Toronto as a child? Come on up again, you'll be amazed at the changes since then!

Well Nautikos,
If you come in summer make sure your hotel has air conditioning. If you have any snow handy, send it this way, my aircon ain't working. Fortunately it's fairly cool for summer - only about 25 degrees. thanks for clearing up the he/she thing, I'm never good at telling in anonymous forums.

of those storms!

PostSmile!  Hi .. These pictures are beautifully awesome. We used to go to Toronto every year when I was a child to visit my cousins. I really enjoy looking at pictures that relate to the unpredictable beauty of nature. Thanks for sharing.

Blanche,
on second thought, if M. is really adamant about this, it might be best if you did not mention that 'I said so' business from my last comment to him! Not that I personally give a s***, but I know how I would react if my woman told me that some guy suggested I should do something 'because he said so'. I'd never do it!

I will relay the mesage in about an horu or so, Naut. M and I have been
like two ships passing in the night these days, on different schedules, and I'm not one to issue ultimatums, (we both loathe, hate, and despise pressure and manipulation tactics) but it's time to get down to brass tacks.  He keeps postponing the move, wants to put it off a "couple more months", but this is such a golden opportunity and the pressure is mounting from other quarters to move, that if I don't get out of here soon, I feel like just walking out of here and not coming back.

posted by Blanche. on October 15, 2006 at 5:36 PM | link to this | reply

Blanche,
four guys with a pick-up will do just fine. Just keep an eye on them!  But you owe yourself that move, and tell M I said so!

posted by Nautikos on October 15, 2006 at 5:31 PM | link to this | reply

I hate moving as much as the next person, and yes, I will scrimp and save
my pennies to hire movers, but it will not be a professional moving company, it'll be more like 4 unemployed Millionaire's club guys in a rusty pickup.  We live in different worlds, I think.

posted by Blanche. on October 15, 2006 at 5:28 PM | link to this | reply

Blanche,

I abhor, depise, detest and hate moving with a passion. The last time we moved I had to be out of town. So my wife moved, with the help of the movers, of course. Actually, I still got sort of involved, at the end.

So, if need be, tell M to get out of town, get the movers and do it. And he can pay half of the tab, of course!

Jane,
sorry about the weather! Mind you, since you keep sending us the stuff we get here in Toronto, you shouldn't expect anything else. Fair's fair!

posted by Nautikos on October 15, 2006 at 5:16 PM | link to this | reply

Nautikos, well, that's one thing, he's being difficult about this move.
Pig-headed is more like it.  He doesn't want the inconvenience of moving, but I will go starkers if I stay here when I could have a home, with a kitchen, a yard, and without tripping over each other.  It's getting old, a lot of things are.

Nautikos, those photos are awesome!
We just came through some gale force winds and bone chilling temps here on the edge of Lake Michigan (a storm that moved south from Canada -- thanks very much!), and I am thankful I wasn't out on one of those mighty barges in the storms we had.  Phew!

What am I doing up so early? Hm, promise not to tell M, my boyfriend?
Cause he's sleeping.  Sometimes when I can't sleep, I get up to blog, and then go back to sleep after I've written out whatever's on my mind.  M also has a bad habit of waking me up when he comes to bed and wants to talk politics,l and then can't understand why I can't exactly drift back to sleep.  Gr.

Well, I have my photo of the Spirit of Chemainus, and a painting of
Monet's of France with blue skies, and that will probably have to do, because the forecast is for rain soon.  But, metaphorically speaking, they've never been bluer, thank you.

fionajean,

thanks for dropping in! Glad you liked the pics!

Well, Africa is still on my agenda, it's just a question of when. And I would certainly not go there to look at snow! In fact there is something faintly scandalous about snow in Africa! The only place where it's allowed, on Kilimanjaro, it's disappearing! Not good! But we get plenty of the white stuff here, far more than I like! That means I would travel to Africa in our winter, which would inevitably be your summer...

Oh, and I'm a guy, by the way...

Don't know why there's no sun up in the sky, Stormy Weather, since my man and I ain't together, keeps on rainin' all the time..Been so blue, every thing I say or do reminds me of you.. Stormy Weather..Keeps on raining all the time

Great song,I love Lena Horen's voice.

HI there,
The pix are great - I personally would be glad I didn't take them; not with what's coming with them. I just stopped by 'cos I was amused by your comment on Tanga's blog. I live in South Africa and you really need to make a plan to get out here one day. Our summers can be very very hot (Like living on the face of the sun) but we also get snow in the berg in winter. Personally, I keep about 4 jackets in my office because the air conditioner has two temperatures - sweltering or deep freeze. Anyway come round sometime - you'd love it here. (Just don't come in December/January - the height of our summer.)

Talion,
you're absolutely right! Good old Thor with his hammer! But there is another Norse tradition, which has it that the god 'is seeing an old man about a camel', as one of my buddies puts it rather quaintly when he announces that he has to go to the washroom. Thunder followed by rain...

posted by Nautikos on October 11, 2006 at 7:09 PM | link to this | reply

Nautikos, if Passionflower had jurisdiction in Canada, I think she'd be

packing her bags with glee, chasing the storm. It's eye-catching, and it makes me think of the old song, "The Wreck Of The Edmond Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot.  I don't think there'll be much tea-drinking going on on the bridge, indeed.

Brilliant photos, it looks exciting, but uncertain. The other song, of course, that comes to mind is who? Lena Horne belting out Stormy Weather in her sultry voice?

posted by Blanche. on October 11, 2006 at 7:01 PM | link to this | reply

Strange how these things are as beautiful as they are potentially deadly. It's no wonder the Norsemen of old envisioned Thor with a mighty hammer, pounding in the heavens.
