I just thank God that I don't know all that some people know
because the more we know the more responsible we are. I do not need any more responsibility than I already have! It is all a good conversation starter though! Thanks and keep writing,

ACTUALLY THE HELIUM FILLED HUMAN SHAPED BALLOONS
that would be interesting
play a practical joke -- fill thousands of such balloons with helium all around the world
and let them go all at once
and see what the Rapturists do.

self righteous spooks killing the planet slowly (quickly now, I suppose)
...is what the evangelical leaders of today are doing, by refusing to acknowledge the changes in our climate so they can realize their self prophesizing "end time" ...we really do need to stop the zealot morons (Bush, now Haper in Canada, Blair, et al)

Sunnybeach7 - I would guess that a health care professional would tell us
that the adherence to a belief such as the rapture, has many similarities to being suicidal.
It may not necessarily contain the same elements of clinical depression but certainly many of the same aspects of a sense of futility or hopelessness. The really sad part is that no sane person would ever support another person's suicidal tendancies. The belief in the rapture on the other hand, is a group supported and proliferated hysteria that may well influence suicide.

Shams-i-Heartsong - not too long ago I would have dismissed a story such
as that for being the antics of one solitary crazy person.
But then I happened upon this site: HERE . . .

Funny isn't it? Almost like those people having a suicide pact so they could meet up with the alien spaceship that was going to be hovering around?

Troosha - I think that anything that advances the following sentiments:
"...It gives us hope and a peaceful heart. It’s forgiving and gracious...." ....is ultimately a good thing . . . as long as the folks that do believe in this stuff recycle.

Religions driven by fear have very little substance
Spirituality and a connection to God is a manifestation of one’s own unearthly pursuit – a desire to embrace something beyond there here and now. It gives us hope and a peaceful heart. It’s forgiving and gracious. It’s not something that can be spoon-fed or driven home by panic that we’ll be left behind if we don’t pull up our boot straps.

SuccessWarrior - some of that nonsense has trickled onto Blogit
I recently read one blogger attempting to take another to task on this subject. I reserve the right to tell anyone who is advancing complete gibberish that has, as you say; them ".....not on our team and wishing against us" that they are complete chuckleheads. This stuff is more than a few levels worse than telling folks that they are going to hell, as some of our religious brainwashed types are apt to do. Convincing one's self that the end of the world will be a glorious thing can become a self fulfilling prophecy. Not to mention that anyone who so easily dismisses the fate of the majority of mankind, while adhering to some contrived notion that they will be exempt from the same fate..... is an idiot.

Not only are they not on our team, they are hoping against us.
You pointed this out earlier and it is something that has stuck with me. Many of them are looking forward to the destruction of the world so they can have their...whatever they call it...rapture? I don't remember. It was such a crazy thought. They want all of us to be destroyed. It freaked me out so bad that I won't visit that forum you suggested anymore. Scary stuff.
