Of ESL students, that they do not get a long time to stay in ESL. We have to move them up too quickly to make room for all the Newcomers! You two enjoy your Starbucks and college campus today! Cheers!

KIngmi, when I read the phrase "colonial tanner" it stopped me in my tracks
I suddenly had an image of George Hamilton, and it took me a while to stop thinking of Zonker in Doonesbury. I gather you meant a guy who used to tan hides for leather.
Anyway, I love the way you put it, "is he actually doing any work or just sitting in the room having his self-concept stroked", I hear that one. We probably have more similar ideas than you realize.

the student must have felt most confident in the ESL environment.
I actually stayed in ESL for a long time.
