The little guy has been so good since he's been back in my class. He sits right by me and gets lots of help.

An involved dad -- what could be better for the child?

Nanaroo, I hope it works out for you and him. I have a feeling that you are better for him than some teachers would be.

Nanaroo...
Hopefully sitting closer to you and a little further away from the stimuli of other children, the little guy will be able to concentrate more on learning. I have a daughter that was bright, but was like an airplane ready to take off. If you could get her concentration she'd learn, but her attention span was short unless she was interested. She is a wonderful Mom now and is dealing with teaching her own little girls.
Now that this all came to surface, you may find a positive way of giving this little boy the support he needs to internalize the importance of learning what you are teaching. I am certain that you have the insight and caring needed to help this little boy. He is lucky to have you as his teacher.

Cheers
to taking the first step. There will be many more, trust me. Is there a language barrier? Is it a disorder? Can he read what you have given him?
See my daughter is the love of my life, but can be the biggest pain in my behind.
I found out just in time that she had a disorder and that was what was causeing her actions. While I think that the diagnosis is way over done, it is real. She went from F's to A's and B's. He concentration went from a minute at a time to an extended time of three hours. You have to know the child.
