we've had people dump cats off in our yard b/c they see we already
have 2 cats..grrrr, we can't take more..we end up having to take them to the humane society where, because of so many, they usually end up getting put to sleep...pets do require a commitment, there's no question about that..

Gawd I hate to hear horror stories like this. Yes you are doing the right thing by turning it over to the humane society...I don't understand people who do these things either. Especially when there are people like me who would love to have a cat...

Cheers, Lou...You're one of my heros, too!! No worries, we always take precautions when we bring the strays into our house. I have three cats of my own, as well as Mocha, so for safety whenever a new visitor comes into the house, we keep them closed up in the laundry room with a towel, litter pan, food and water until the animal control lady comes to pick them up...

Hey Lovely, you are doing a great work. Resuce of animals is high on my hero list. We live in rural countryside and folks come to the rural country side to demp kittens. Over my 40 years of living here I have adopted some 30 kittens, had them altered and found homes for them or kept them until their death. Cats are so independent yet vulnerable. PEOPLE HAVE LITTLE CONCEPT OF THE STRESS TO THE ANIMAL WHEN LEFT. Once more, YOU ARE MY HERO. P.S. keep yourself healthy, don't become ill over sickly animals. Use precautions.
