The past is rose-soft: we discard its thorns.
The present still has sticky, pricky points
That penetrate our inmost moods and joints.
But slowly, row by row, we mow our lawns.
Each living moment offers chance of bliss.
Who cares about that twenty-year-old kiss?
Memorable and a fitting farewell to the past and welcoming the new, though old, but herenow

I can understand exactly what you're saying....
..but I think one of the hardest things to throw out are regrets for missed opportunities we threw away. Nevertheless we all have them and somehowas you are saying must cometo terms with them. Very well written.

Tony
A rose-soft past - very nice. Enjoyable and thought provoking as always.
Be well,

I like it.
I can' only speak for myself, but what you say is true that the present is often filled with a degree of discomfort mild or worse and we yearn for times past that have been stripped of the pain of the present. Ignore my comment on sonnet 31, it was meant to be a comment on 32.
Cheers
