Success Warrior, I never thought about the Celtic cross,
before reading your entry. Good question and I will one day research your question because now everytime I see the Celtic Cross I will wonder why the circle? Keep asking and Keep challenging my brain! God bless  faholo

both are symbols of almost the same thing

the cross -- four points of the compass, four winds, four cardinal directions, etc.

the circle, derived, I think,  from seeing the horizon as a circle, the heavens as a dome, etc. -- meaning all encompassing.

then there is the 8 pointed star, 4 cardinal larger points and 4 smaller points in between, as in the compass symbol -- more still about all that is.

symbols to contemplate.
