- Go to ASIAN DOCTOR WON 1.8 MILLION AFTER WRONGFUL ARREST IN RURAL FLORIDA
I am from the area and it was great seeing justice done. For some reason in the small towns people of races other than white must fight for their rights in a system that is not color blind.

Sophistie, It sounds to me that perhaps there was some racial prejudice involved?

If people worked have as hard at an honest job as they do at being sneaky
they would gain a whole lot more.

It was stated that there was no probable cause and that the department should never have made the arrest because there was no need. A $60,000 bond was set and it damaged his reputation. He had offices in two nearby small towns and provided a necessary service.
I hate bullies and they seem to be every where and hide behind powerful positions. Being set up in a small town where the Good Ole Boy network runs the place, is expecially frustrating. It is so nice that the federal court had to step in to see that justice was done. All of us have the protection of the consitution for LIVE, LIBERTY AND JUSTICE! Thanks for commenting.

Sophistie, If the facts bore out his case of wrongful arrest in this
instance, I am happy for him, too. I wish it would make the police think twice about arresting somene without cause. The Innocence Project, a legal coalition designed to re-review death row cases, has freed over 100 people based on DNA evidence, (not legal trickery as many assert, but actual physical evidence, DNA) which showed that they did not commit the crime they were accused of.
That is frightening to me, because I've seen firsthand the bullying way that police can act, and an arrest is not a conviction. So many people have been wrongly accused and had their lives ruined by false accusations (which is also one of the ten commandments), that it if it takes a million dollar settlement to make the authorities sit up and take notice, then the justice system has done it's job in balancing the rights of the accused with society, as far as I'm concerned.
