But mosquitos can be partially controlled
You don't swat them one at a time though.  You alter the landscape and take away their breeding grounds.

SW-
We are provoking disfavor in the world, as witnessed by the lack of support given the US when Venezuela's leader called Bush evil, was it?  I have friends in Venezuela who have been blackballed (he has his PhD in chemical engineering) because of their pro-American stance.  I haven't heard from them in two years and I think it's too dangerous for them to correspond.  Personally, I liked Tom Clancey's method of taking out kingpins with a little spywork and a pen filled with an agent that induced instant heart failure (sort of like G. Clooney's movie, Syriana)!  Good fiction.  I agree that the terrorists will still come after us like the mosquitos they are. No matter how many you swat, there are still hundreds more.

And violence to back those beliefs

faholo - how can you make a statement such as that?
As misguided as they  are, Osama Bin Laden and those like him hold a complete and absolute confidence that they are in fact following the wishes of their gods. All attempts at clarifying what God wants or which is the correct God to follow, further adds to the denominational divisions that exist amongst mankind currently.

faholo, of course it's men and women but it's hard to get people to
understand that they aren't receiving their instructions from god.

My apologies Success Warrior, I mistakenly wrote Cantey's name
instead of your name at the end of my comment. Sorry!   faholo

I am not convinced our world is divided by Religion!
My personal belief is that the world is divided by the persistent evilness of men and women who refuse to bow to the will of the Father. Religion can't hurt or harm anyone, but men and women can and do by choice!  Keep writing, Cantey,  faholo
