mark2556 - it's simply bad for business
Not to mention that taking parting shots at everyone remaining has about as much class as a wet fart in church.

Gome ~ You are a bazillion % correct on that.
The latest I'm Leaving 'Cause You're All Idiots and I've Got More Noble Things To Do (who will most certainly be back) was a shining example.  In the nearly four years I've been here I've never seen one individual's negativity and candy-ass passive-aggressive antagonism have a more souring effect on this site.  It was like a viral infection.  But that's not very fair to viral infections.

Sunnybeach7 - it seems to be contagious
These folks don't seem to understand that this site can be harmed by the proliferation of manufactured negativity. They don't seem able to connect the dots between how discouraging the whining, childish hissy fits can be to everyone....and the success of this site.

Yes, I can feel it too.  It's like a lingering negativity.
I don't know what makes people think they should have some say in or to censor what others write about.  I'm sure they would feel quite offended if someone acted the same way towards them.

Sunnybeach7 - I can't quite put my finger on what it is but there is a

prevailing mood in the air.

It is very unhealthy in regards to the overall success of this site. I can't figure out what some of these people want. It's as if they have determined how we all should write, think and act.

This was an excellent post!

I agree with you. There is a lot of negativity in quite a few posts around here. Lots of talk about leaving or wanting others to leave.

I have been the subject of one of those posts for someone that is wanted to leave. Of course, my name wasn't mentioned, but I know who they are talking about.
Oh well. They will just have to get used to me, and my feelings and my comments. My comments aren't even too them, so you know what I say?
If you don't like my comments, it's your right to mind your own business.

strat -- I agree, I've tried to stay away from it as well

I particularly dislike those who would take parting shots at remaining members. Just a few days ago I had one such comment left for me. My instinctive reaction to it was: "bye...the pleasure was all yours, let me hold the door for you" ......seriously, it makes one wonder about the maturity level of some people.

I also wanted to add that I do regularly click on your postings. I'm a terrible phantom reader/clicker but I will say hello next time.

That's it! I'm leaving! Think like me or go to hell!
They're coming to take me away, ha, ha!

Absolutely spot on, Gome. If you don't like it, move on. And if you're leaving, do so. Chances are, if you're a whiner, no one will miss you, anyway.

I've made it an art form to avoid all this kind of garbage; it's just not worth the 11 cents a day I make on this site to worry about it.

Good post, as always. I know I can always count on a terrific read here.

Take it easy!

8-ball - Thank you, I have actually read your posts a number of times
I'm a terrible phantom clicker/reader that moves on without commenting. I have to make an effort to leave more comments......thanx for stopping bye.

Cool Blog
this is my first time visiting you and I like. You speak the truth and I am sick of all the bull but I don't care I just joke about it and move on. Life is too short to be mad and angry and complain all your life.

Gome... well said in your post, and thank you so much for what you

just said in your comment.  I wish I had found that post funny, but it really did blindside me at first.  It was such a personal attack from someone with whom I had never even had a dispute.  We had commented on each other a few times, but it was always friendly.  Her post came out of nowhere.  I have no idea what she was even talking about.

Thanks again for speaking up and saying such nice things.  So many commented on her without saying a word.  You really just made my day.

Schatz --well Hello - anybody home?
That is what I feel like saying (okay, I quite often do say it) to those who simply cannot ignore a post they dislike or find offensive. Like it isn't that difficult to overcome inherent human curiosity. Blogit is also a big place, I've coexisted here for a few years now with some people who I cannot see eye to eye with. They ignore me, I ignore them......it ain't that difficult.

posted by gomedome on September 20, 2006 at 8:52 AM | link to this | reply

Thanks for the nice comment, Gome...It bothered me because I've always
helped new bloggers out...I screen and answer lots of emails from new bloggers and I knew when I read the post in question that the person wasn't being fair. I had my run in with her early on and I thought all was well, but apparently the grudge was still there on her part.  Bon voyage is all I can say.

Ariala - I picked up on that nonsense involving you and Blackcat
It is lame. Excuse me if I find the notion of 2 of this site's best cybor citizens and prolific contributors being a reason for someone leaving funny, it may not have been a humorous experience for either of you.....but it begs the question in what do these people want? Is it a site where everyone acts, writes, thinks and reacts exactly as they do? Where every word posted must meet with their approval? You can bet that when a ridiculous scenario, of these types of unwarranted accusations surfaces, that there are serious personal problems of the accuser in play.

cantey_1975 and SuccessWarrior - there is no doubt that garnering clicks

is the biggest motivation for fake farewells.

If it were just left at that then it would be just another annoying nuance and reality of this type of blogging competition. It is the berating of this site, its members and especially the exaggerated warnings to new members that I have a problem with. These things are detrimental to all members, far moreso than any other allegedly detrimental activities.

Please stop talking about sticking a sheep.
I have needs and that kind of talk only makes them better.

posted by mark2556 on September 20, 2006 at 8:21 AM | link to this | reply

I agree. If it's a matter of not liking what someone posts then simply

DON'T CLICK THERE!!!

Do these same people subscribe to scientology magazines and then complain to the editor that their Christian views aren't being fairly represented? Do they go to Buddhist temples and complain that they don't hear The Lord's Prayer? Do they go to AA meetings and complain there aren't drinks being served?? It makes no sense to me, seriously.

some drama queen people just love the attention

that announcing " well, Ill be leaving Blogit" seems to bring. It seems to be a sure fire attention getter and a way to be riddled with comments.

Gomedome...that is exactly how it is. And how it should be. As far as
Mark...have you seen what he has done to me?  He has transformed me into a torso stuffed in a box....a homely little break cake corn pushing hooker...I think he even stuck me in a an animal once.  No, he is definatley one to watch, that one is.  He is talking about sticking me with a sheep.

I don't know why I bother asking you.  You won't tell, miss "I won't say any names because of blah blah blah".  I'll ask Blackcat...she's a little more crooked than you.

Kiddo75 - I have to stand up for Mark -- I wouldn't call him simple minded
.....but you have eloquently described the greatest asset of this site in being exposed to the opinions and viewpoints of others. It is a fairly limited individual that does not constantly question, modify and expand their own perspectives. Demanding conformity of thought or belief from others is arrogant, the inability to accept the differences in others demonstrates a lack of personal growth. The perspectives of others can be the greatest of learning tools, even if it is to help us decide how we do not want to be.

posted by gomedome on September 20, 2006 at 7:50 AM | link to this | reply

Gome, no, it's not just you. I get tired of being labeled a "bully." All
I've ever done was promote free speech and the "live and let live" philosophy.  How is that being a bully?  How is not apologizing for how I blog being a bully?  I don't understand.  For a person to blame me and blackcat for her departure is so lame.  I cannot begin to touch it without descending to a level I refuse to go to.  The blame game is the problem on this site.  Truly, the best advice is IF YOU DON'T LIKE SOMETHING, STOP CLICKING...but an insane person, as we know, does the same thing over and over and expects different results.

Ariala - I think that has a lot to do with a prevailing mood
I knew that it wasn't just me that was becoming fatigued with reading about people that have been "forced" by others to leave Blogit.

posted by gomedome on September 20, 2006 at 7:42 AM | link to this | reply

And in Marks case, we get a rare glimpse into the mind of a simple minded
pervert.  Other than the nimble minded deviants, we do have a variety of characters.  I enjoy reading opinions that are different from my own, intelligent opinions that is.  To read something you find yourself on the opposite end of making sense because of the way it was written opens your mind to possibilites.  We are arrogant to think that our views are the right views.  Without giving the floor to another way we are closing so many doors.  If we can't see where we stand is as solid as the floor the other guy stands on, we might miss the bridge that can cross the two.

Xeno-x - you hit on the greatest value of Blogit
Aside from being a great place to be an amateur columnist, in the differing perspectives we glean from others. The variety of opinions to be gleaned from others is in itself worth the price of admission. We get everything from the hilariously moronic to the incredibly insightful, with all bases covered in between.

yeah i noticed
some blogger on a couple of months gets upset over Ariala?  Blackcat?  sheesh -- if these people turn them off, i wonder how they every survive in the realworld having to deal with other people.  or maybe they don't -- maybe the just stay in their own shelter of a house or room or coffin-sized box whatever  and avoid any contact with others.
hey!  you and I disagree on som e things -- but I keep coming back for more.

mark2556 - we've seen a lot of that lately
The "whoa is me, I'm leaving Blogit" thing....but they never seem to leave. They come back and work the long, drawn out goodbye to the point of making the rest of us nauseous.

If people truly believed in their "conviction" to leave...
..they should just, uh....leave.  These spotlight "I'm disgusted/angry/better than this/got a much more important writing opportunity" never-ending farewell tours pack about as much punch as a French military campaign.  And smell about the same.
