Beg to differ. Those inclined to terrorism hated us long before we began fighting back against terrorism. The Islamic radicals want conversion or death for anyone - including you - who is not on their path of extremely rigid Islamic law. Kerry was right strictly in the context of which you write, but that context is far too constricted to be of any real value in rightly assessing the situation.

What Senator Kerry said appears to me to be filled with truth and light. When million dollar US smart bombs kill my father, mother, brother, or sister, there is certainly an impetus to become a livelong terrorist.
