ilk1 (ĭlk) pronunciation
n.

Type or kind: can't trust people of that ilk.

pron. Scots.

The same. Used following a name to indicate that the one named resides in an area bearing the same name: Duncan of that ilk.

[Middle English ilke, same, from Old English ilca.]

WORD HISTORY   When one uses ilk, as in the phrase men of his ilk, one is using a word with an ancient pedigree even though the sense of ilk, “kind or sort,” is actually quite recent, having been first recorded at the end of the 18th century. This sense grew out of an older use of ilk in the phrase of that ilk, meaning “of the same place, territorial designation, or name.” This phrase was used chiefly in names of landed families, Guthrie of that ilk meaning “Guthrie of Guthrie.” “Same” is the fundamental meaning of the word. The ancestors of ilk, Old English ilca and Middle English ilke, were common words, usually appearing with such words as the or that, but the word hardly survived the Middle Ages in those uses.

Anyway, have you heard of the Patriot Act?

There have been rumors of Muslims being warned to get out of U.S. cities before.  There were specific threats about an attack on a big shopping mall.  This has a ring of truth about it.  Osama and co. have to do something to us here and soon, because they have lost face do to the Hezbo "Victory."

Whatever's going on with the warning, it's a head's-up to stop the complaints about U.S.' protective surveillance methods, or there'll be no Constitution or Bill of Rights to protect.

Corbin,

I have looked at the article, and it is certainly interesting. I am also surprised that the mainstream media haven't picked it up yet!

I don't have enough information, nor does anyone else in this forum, to decide whether this is serious or not. But even if we decided that it is: what would be the practical consequences for us?

Islamic terrorists know that the threat of terror itself is a weapon!

(And I apologize: I was wrong in stating that nobody here knows enough! My apology is to fwmystic, whose all-penetrating intelligence and deep sagacity finally allow us to conclude that 9/11 was the result of administrative bungling, and who knows [but hasn't told us yet, because he's too discrete] that even this bit of fear-mongering was hatched over a three-martini lunch and tryst between George W. and Condi, as part of the GOP election strategy...)

This is one time I wish they would all leave. By asking them Al-Qaida to leave the country means they are still here. I say we give them all the boot. Course Lord only knows what they will try next!!!

Uhhhhh......Mystic

This came Muslim reporters and interviews with  Al-Qaeda  strategists.........

The administration hasn't even commented in any way on it............you're the perfect example of the Hubris of the Left.......

If we caught Osama tomorrow...your comment would be it was planned for the election.......you're just ate up with your hatred...aren't you?

this is just another scare tactic before an election ...
fear, fear and more fear is all GOPers have to offer the country to hide their spectacular and gross incompetence. The odds of WMD being smuggled in through Mexico are very remote. As the 9/11 commission reported, bureaucratic bungling led to the attack on the Twin Towers, not some element of surprise.

I think surprise is a key element in terrorism. Therefore, if we know about it beforehand, it can't possibly be true.

A friend of mine who studies these things told me this tonight
He said that there is something in their religion where they warn each other.  Some kind of code.  For my friend, it sounded credible.  Guess we'll see what happens in two weeks.

They've been planning this for years

and it's only been the last 5 that we've actually been REALLY aware of it, I think.  But Ollie North warned in the Iran Contra hearings that there was a man he was afraid of and his name was Osama Bin Laden. We had time to prepare and to safeguard this country but for the most part, we felt ignorantly safe.  This was America, who'd DARE attack us.  Look what happened to Japan when they did. It'sa  different world and we need to be aware.

All tragedy is conceived in fear. If he blows up my little town I will go to Heaven. I doubt he even warned them except to scare us, they don't care when they kill their own.  I will never run from that diaper headed varmint.

Corbin, this bears some investigation. I'll look iinto it and see if I can
find more sources, because, if it is, it is so scary to think of.
