Maybe he shouldn't have used the text but then again, why should we allow a group of radicals tell us what we are allowed to say or draw?

I am fully with you on the subject. But in today's news, the Pope has said that these words were not his but from some ancient Muslim scriptures, though I didn't read the full details.

There is nothing holy about a war
Even the destruction of all these self serving religions would be better done peacefully if possible.

Then I read your last line. I've never understood the mentality that has for example; the Israelis bomb their enemies homes into rubble and set them back to the stone age, then the persons now living in rubble declare those amongst them who started the war as heros and declare a great victory. ....huh? How can a kill ration of negative 5:1 and a destruction of property ratio of negative 100:1 be considered any kind of victory? My point is that there is no rational thought in religious fanaticism.
