kingmi, great post
Sometimes I know I can do something, but I know that I will never be able to; I know it in a place deep inside where we create self-fulfilling prophecies, and that is where most of my battles are fought. I agree that we are capable of far more than we think or even hope, and I blame part of that on our society and it's linear viewpoint (which makes it seem impossible to do things no one else has done before, and only slightly less difficult to do even that!)

As I get older
I find myself more satisfied with myself and my life in general. Happiness means more to me than the almighty dollar (although I have a husband who works hard to provide me with them). Home is a menagerie of animals, friends are few but the ones I have are true friends and worth their weight in gold, I'm not worried by what people think of me any more, and I like being ME, as eccentric as I am.
I always tell people to follow their dreams and to be all that they can and want to be. You may never be a rock group guitarist but if you want to play guitar and jam in someone's garage, go for it! You never know, you may just be the next Santana or Page. Be happy. Smile a lot and spread that 'niceness' around as you go. Life's too short to bear grudges, be it the person who pulls in front of you and then drives 20mph or obnoxious people who get in your face.
A good write!
Rose:)

Odysseus, Thank you. I totally agree with you. Your comment was so thought-
provoking, I had to go back and re-read what I had written last night on the way from the mall to pick up my daughter, my brother's favorite neice, and all the while my brother was expounding about the movie and George Reeves, and how we remembered it when we were kids. I was just typing away furiously on my blackberry with my thumbs! Lol

King
I just watched a documentary on the original superman ( I think from the 50's) . In it they told what a really nice guy he was. When he went to ask for a raise because he was working over time and doing all his own stunts, they told him no...sad eh when you consider they get paid thousands for bit parts these days!

My opinion is that we need to be careful not to allow
our paranoia over being deflated or losing to stifle our ambition. There are so many people about in this world that can be much more than they are. There are so many people who give up prematurely, not knowing that their goal is not really as distant as it seems, if they would but persist. Certainly, we must use common sense and not waste all of our energies chasing a needle in a haystack, but neither do we want to curl up and passively and blindly accept whatever life decides to dish out to us. We must have goals and dreams. We must envision ourselves in that better place. We do have the power to improve ourselves and our lives when we willfully set our minds to the task. We do it with ambition, persistence, and willful action. We create our future by our present actions.
