i don't know what god is

it's beyond me.

there's yin and yang, male and female

duality forever

so add it up and come to a conclusion

also, there's an artifact that shows Yahveh's consort
and Yahveh rather without clothes.  to a search at the top and enter Yahveh (or Yahweh) consort -- and i hope you will be taken to the post.

one prominent bible schollar contends that God had a wife.
Did God Really Have a Wife?
Shmuel Ahituv
With a mix of folk religion in ancient Israel and archaeological evidence, William Dever’s new book presents the case for God having a spouse.

Nope, no Mrs. God, just a concubine

And I believe the Catholic religion holds the concubine in high esteem.  You would think women would be dropping out of that religion left and right.  Maybe men won't let them.

"Sir, please sir, may I have your permission to quit this religion?"

"Hell no!  Now get back on the bed.  Praise be to Mary."

SuccessWarrior -- even the beard is a telling aspect of the conditioning

that has us making masculine references to God.

As you allude to in this post, the constructs of God come from a time when men held a higher status to women in all societies on earth. The image of wise old patriarch as God is indelably ingrained in our thinking. References to God as "him" or "he" are almost involuntary but if this omnipotent being actually existed, what need would "it" have for gender?  There isn't a Mrs. God.

Mademoisell, I'm sure the beard plays a large part in it
What male god of any real power doesn't have a beard?

While all of that may be true ...

I also think it's partly because of the beard.

I'll be the first to admit that my idea of God is pretty different.
I believe in a God with a long white beard, a gold crown,
and a long robe with lots of shiny jewels on it.
He sits on a big throne in the clouds, and he's about five hundred feet tall.
He talks in a real deep voice like, "I...AM...GOD!"
And, he can blow up stuff just by looking at it.
This is my own, personal idea of God.
