LOL...
so instead of the origins of the Mormon Church, it's going to be cures for the common cold!!
I had a class through University of Phoenix on ethics that was really interesting in the way people think and their pre-concieved ideas. Very good instructor, fortunately, and I was able to voice my thoughts and observations with at least one apprecitive reader.
The one assignment that sticks out was a case where we were supposed to predict the outcome of a situation given ONLY the facts stated. Two soldiers who can't communicate with one another and the odds of survival if they maintain or flee their positions. Greatest odds are if both stay, but next if one runs the one that runs will survive, and the one that stays will be killed. Will the soldier remain at his post or run?
Many of the class members assumed that they were American soldiers and so whatever training they had recieved in the military, etc would apply. But the whole point was to see what assumptions people would make to predict the situation.

Gome, who would have thought that exercising the first amendment
would rank right up there with genocide.
As for the paper, there was little decision. My wife was sitting by me when we read the comment and it only took us a few seconds to decide to back off potentially pissing off most of the class (who do peer reviews of the paper) and possibly the instructor. Emotions can easily rule out helpful critiquing.

Kid, there is a time and a place
I will spread the truth but I'm not going to risk a good grade in school for it. My grades may have an effect on what happens in the future and that might effect how well I can take care of my family. My family is my number one priority. Freeing religious prisoners from their self-made shackles is way down on the list. Finding out how to stop my nose from running ranks above them.

SuccessWarrior - I'm killing myself laughing at your last comment
But to the point. You will notice that the advice given to take the path of least resistence was offered by those who have written college papers. Your decision is the right one based on my experiences. The work is difficult enough without adding the potential of ruffling the sensibilities of others to the mix.

Is there really a choice, SuccessWarrior?
Is it really best for anyone to choose relationships over truth? Just a question. Yes, it's true that some people can't handle the truth. However, that should never stop anyone from either telling the truth or discovering it. Sometimes, telling the truth will cost us relationships. My personal attitude is that if a person can't handle the truth - or if telling the truth, even to people other than the person who will be harmed, will harm someone with whom I have a relationship - perhaps I don't want to be in that relationship in the first place.

That's true Talion but for the most part...
My religion blog has been well received. And those that have disagreed have kept their arguments to the ideas that I have presented and haven't taken to personally attacking me.
I know that this isn't true for everyone else. Gome, for instance, has been damned to hell so many times that he's probably going to be playing dominos with Hitler and Mussolini because bloggers don't like his words.

You wrote, "The fact that it's online and very impersonal and these are adults made us think that it would be an atmosphere where people could exchange ideas freely." You could say the same about Blogit, but look what really goes on. You made the right choice.
