A Free Trader speaks
Dear Friends:
Until and unless Free Trade is established across all international bounderies, we'll have the problem of illegal economic immigrants.
The NAFTA and GATT treaties have kept more illegals at home than all the border police in the world, because nobody wants to leave home if he/she can made a decent living there.
When the kleptocracies of the Third World collapse and the rule of law, transparent financial markets and Capatilism replace oligarchy, dictators, religious fanatics and hereditary kings, all this will come right of its own accord. Look it up if you don't believe me. It's in the book ...

Justi,
you know my views on this subject!
For those who feel there is no problem, or who believe that the 'benefits' of the invasion outweigh the disadvantages, let me put it in the most simple terms possible.
Why have a border if it's not secured?
Why have an immigration policy if it's meaningless?
Why have immigration laws if they are not enforced?
Why have any law that is not enforced?
And a further observation: according to some estimates, amnesty would cost the US economy approximately 100 billion dollars over the next decade...

Wiley unless we do something here we will be taken over
very fast and maybe without firing a shot. It is terrible, and most people don't want any trouble.... We have trouble! I don't believe we should give money. We are giving one country millions and they are building ski slopes enclosed in glass in the desert. Do we need to give money to all the world? I don't think so!

Tanga, you are right we tried it, we need their help. They will not go
home, they run into the society. They are clannish and many of the illegals live among the legals and nobody can find them if they were looking. They have now come out into the open and are marching in the streets to be able to stay. It has become a greater problem than we are able to handle right now.

That is why they are all coming here too, because they come from countries they were too lazy to clean up, or take their responsibilites for.
They were too cowardly to fight for their own places, so it's easier to find a nice new clean place that works and run it down until it doesn't and move on again.
We are sending our young men to die for cultures that don't give a damn about anything where they live, except evil belief's, making females slaves and poppies the crop of their lives.
If we don't start worrying about the U.S.A. and Canada and making them secure, then pretty soon we will all be in mosques wondering how it all happened.
Bring all our men home, make the U.S.A. and Canada secure, if there are problems in other countries, send money, not soldiers and guns, but after we have looked after ourselves.

Immigration madness
I find myself compelled to add the paraphrase of a quote I read in Reader's Digest (so it must be true) about 40 years ago.
It was delivered to an American president, either Nixon or Johnson, by the chief of a western tribe of Native Americans.
It was, "Dear Mr. President, You would do well to keep an eye on your immigration policies. We didn't."
'Nuff said?

Some ideas need
to start flowing in order to control the unflux of your illegals before it becomes uncontrollable. I read the comments below and have an idea. If manual labour is required and these "illegals" are willing and able to do the job, why not a temporary "harvesting permit" with a specified lenth or required time indicated by the farmer and that the farmer is responsible to ensure that the person holding the permit is returned to the border before expiry of such permit.

We give welfare to able bodied people, not all mind you, but so many could be doing that work to level the playing field. Clean it up give amnesty if that is required. But don't lie about what it is. It is not legal.

I believe its time for our country to correct some things
About the way we accept and deal with illegal aliens. The problem is not going away but our efforts to deal with aliens is archaic and doesn't work anymore.
We need them here. Farmers are having to plow under their strawberry crops bec there aren't any workers to harvest them - This will continue until we can't get many fresh fruits and veggies anymore bec Americans will NOT do that type of work. It's too hard and doesn't pay well.
