Appearance has nothing to do with being a soul mate
in my opinion. Being a soul mate is pre-destined...and also soul mates are not always destined to be in a "love" relationship, so to speak.
But since that's what you're talking about here...appearance should not be a factor in determining the likability of anyone, in my opinion.
If you have the looks, but nothing else, what is left after those looks wear off? Nothing.
To actually be compatible with someone, you should share at least a few similar interests, a somewhat similar view of religious beliefs (or at least an open mind), a willingness to compromise, to name just a few.

I like a guy who is tall, lanky, has hair, is a good kisser and is passionate. Someone who works hard but knows how to play.

that is true, but sometimes the attraction has nothing to do with looks, the real feelings are from the individuals personality. I have been in love with men that werent very attractive but the feelings I got from them were true. Looks fade with time

Anyone who says looks don't matter is either legally blind or lying. Appearance won't be the sole criteria of any lasting relationship, but there's no denying it's an important part.
