Very nicely said. They don't need our unnecessary sympathies.A physically impaired faculty has nothing to do with our taking theng them as mentally challenged.

Tanga,
Thank you so much for sharing a bit of your mum's story with me. She is very kind to teach art...Both to the challenged and non-challenged. God means for us to look for the beauty that is all around us, and your mother is indeed gifted to see this beauty in ways most of us cannot. She has great compassion for humankind to share her gift.
I am so sorry for the loss of her student. I hope it helps her to know she made a difference to her...And to all she teaches...

My Mom
is an artist and also teaches art. She also teaches art to the disabled for free. Last week she phoned in tears. One of her paralyzed students had passed away. She shares your view that if only people would be more accepting and not treat people in wheelchairs or with disabilities with disdain they might learn what wonderful and brave people they actually are. She said that her friend had one of the kindest personalities she had ever met and that even though she was wheelchair bound always made time for others. She will be sorely missed by all. I only met her once as I live so far away, but her sense of humor and accepting of me for who I am warmed my heart. I am sorry that she is gone. In one meeting she left her mark, imagine the mark she left on those who saw her daily.

I think it would do us all good to simply be quiet and listen
to the silence from time to time.
