It is wonderful to have a good true friend! You are lucky. I also had a good friend named Karen. We knew each other since my nursery school days. We lost a bit of contact through the years but caught up with each other again last year. We don't see each other much since I moved to Zambia, which is a pity, but we talk through email, which is always nice.

Bel, it sounds like Karen is one of those friends who are there for life
I like the comedy routine from Blue Collar Comedy Tour, about best friends. A best friend is not the one who'll bail you out of jail at 3 in the morning, they'll be in the cell with you, saying, "Man, what happenend?"
That is a joke, but all joking aside, those kinds of friends, the ones that are there, come hell or high water, at 2 am, are precious. You are very blessed.
