Raised in Baltimore, moved to between DC and Baltimore and I'm moving back
close to Baltimore. I'll always been from Baltimore in my head. I love the town and the people. We're the Big City/Small Town.

I live in North Dallas.
There are about 10 restaurants within walking distance. It's a busy neighborhood close to Addison Airport. So me and my cat sneeze alot because of the poor air quality. We live in an apt building and people are constantly walking around the pool or the breezeway talking, etc. It's noisy.
For many years, we lived in east Texas, out in the country where there were lots of livestock and wide open spaces. I enjoy that lifestyle better....hummingbirds, butterflies, fields of green grass or corn. We had a pond with catfish. I miss my dog, Kate.

correction to my comment: I started teaching in 1975, not 1075! My former
students would say (jokingly) that they
knew I was ancient!

I live in Leavenworth, KS., center of the United States;
First city of the State of Kansas, located on the Missouri River, beside Ft. Leavenworth, where Gen. Custer rode out to never return, where my great-grandfather was a scout but didn't ride to the massacre because he was riding an Indian pony, known for their speed, as opposed to he Army issued quarter horse. We are on the Lewis and Clark trail and the crossing of the Missouri is where settlers left on their journey to the northwest along the Oregon Trail. Some of the ruts made by the wagon wheels remain and are preserved to this day. We are about 35 min. north of Kansas City KS and KC MO. this part of KS is beautiful and hilly, with lots of maples. Autumn is spectacular in my town. I did not grow up here, but I found out after I moved here to take on my first teaching position in 1075 that My mother's family had lived here for years and the uncle that my mother despised was the grand wizard of the KKK and used to lead them in parades in the 1920s when there was a resurgence of KKK activity. I started teaching in 1975, when there were still some leftover racial tension and demonstrations occurred the first two years I taught. The population was and is about 25% African American. We also have a deployment of the coast guard and a large VA hospital. There are two national cemeteries, similar to what you see at Arlington. There was an underground railroad as Leavenworth was a "slave town” before the civil war. Some of the tunnels that were dug to smuggle runaways from the antebellum mansions exist to this day. We almost bought one of them and I don't think I would have ever gone downstairs because I got prickles up and down my back when I walked through the basement! The military prison and federal prison are both located here. In the next-door town of Lansing is located the state of KS. Men’s and women's prisons.

The climate is very hot and we only have about 2 months winter. Semi tropical environment in the rain season, arid in the dry season.
