I like to get clarification first as well
In my writing group, I find myself posting the dead opposite of what I mean sometimes. I often post 2-3 a.m., and I type super fast. The word "Weren't" has often become were. Normally I catch it before someone is offended, but it can happen.

one lesson that I learnt early on
was to simply ask someone to clarify what they meant in a comment left in one of my posts. The blogger had written in a hurry and had typed something that I thought was mean about me and was curious as I thought we were "friends". I was tempted to ignore and block but decided I'd send an email first - that was to stop the conversation being public and also to ensure that the blogger got my message. In response the blogger was surprised, re-read the comment realised a letter or word was missing that changed the comment from positive as it was intended to one that was read in the negative...

Kingmi, I find that the best way to deal with such situations is to be
yourself and be honest with who you are...as you and I and others have learned, you can't please everyone.
