Passionflower I, of course, have not been there as you have. This was
a recent story on all the news stations for one or two times. Not one of these things that they run and run for days. Whether it is true is up to them. Many in the comments section said they too heard it.

I don't believe this story.

All the boats, cars and furniture in New Orleans floated around in 20 feet of flood water for almost 2 weeks. I saw plenty of boats on I-10. The owners couldn't come back from Tenn or AZ or CO or wherever they had relocated to bec they didn't have the money.

I saw boats in dtiches, on roof tops. They lined streets and filled yards once the flooding went down. Residents had  cars, boats and all kinds of debris in their homes and yards and on their roof tops. Nobody knew where their boat or car had floated off to.

There's still alot of that debris there.

OH WOW you guys have been responding to this in a great way thanks.

Odysseus, Corgin Dallas, Jane's Opinion, Nautekos, Rumored Intelligence, Wiley Coyote, TAPS, & Maggie Mae.

I want to thank all of you. I do so appreciate TAPS taking a road above the rest of us; however, I do not find in all my searching how his circumstances could warrent a suit against the man who took the boat to use in this way. If he kept the boat, or some such outside this okay. But all the news I heard was he just took what was available and did what needed to be done. Man can not be pleased. We want to get help, We expect the government to help, we are the government. We don't want anyone to be hurt in the process. Life is simply not hurt free. Thank you all and God bless each of you.

Justi, I think the man who owns the boat should be hung by his toenails and taught a little about humanity.  Gosh, I just don't know about people anymore.  They think of nobody except themselves.  It's so sad.

How are you holding up, dear lady?  I hope all is well.

Justi, I don't understand someone that would not be happy to give his boat to save lives.  But, I also do not understand everyone who was not in NO at that time convicting him without hearing where he is coming from.  Who knows what happened to him.  Maybe he lost everything.  Maybe he is suffering PTSD.  Maybe his mother was one of those killed in the bus that burned or in the hospital where patients received "mercy killing".   Lets give him a chance to tell his side of the story before we take sides.

Justi
There are many injustices in this world. I think his recognition by the gratitude of those he rescued was worth being sued. It is very sad that humanity has lost its mind.

this is just more proof that a lot of people will sue at the drop of a hat
no matter what the circumstances..

Justi,

The mind boggles! How can the boat's owner possibly justify to himself suing over this?

And it is to be hoped that his case will be thrown out, closely followed by the man himself...

posted by Nautikos on August 28, 2006 at 6:02 AM | link to this | reply

Yeah and where was the boat's owner?

Is he one who fled at the first sign of trouble?  Perhaps now feeling a little guilty that he did not lift his finger to help others?

At the very most, the man should be charged for the boat fuel he used.  Beyond that, forget it!  (And for that matter, the owner should be thanking him for assisting so many people!!!)

I hope he can demand a jury trial.........that should take care of it.

I saw something on T. V. about this.
It’s almost too much to believe. I bet there’s probably more to this story than came out in the press.

SevenStars I would counter sue too. No Judge should even allow such.

Tanga, for sure. It would be an honor to give anything to save others. To
selfish to believe.

FLIGHTPATH, I could not believe a person could do that. I too hope he loses

I would have sued the person in return
For being a selfish bastard.

What a mindless, selfish person
He should be honoured that he indirectly helped victims of the Katrina. What and A-hole

I saw that segment, too, Justi. I'm hoping the boat owners lose the case.
