I do too Darrke. If I wished any ill on these people,
I would be no better than the people that I write about.

"All things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose..."
Don't know if that one is in Romans though, seems to be a good one for the situation. Bigger church, better location, insurance plus lots of donations...why complain about that?
Seriously, I'm sorry to hear about the Church...I think people should be left alone to worship in whatever way they choose. Hate to see their buildings destroyed...any of them.

Blonde, I'll try to remember to look at a paper at work today
I'm curious where it says in the bible where it's god's plan to burn down churches that provide charitable services.

Cantey, that makes more sense
God rules heaven. Man rules earth.

That is sad.
I remember some teachings out of Romans, but I can't pull any scriptures out of my head relating to this.

kid, the pastor said it was god's plan.
A pastor should know, shouldn't he?

I think the answer is simple
human beings are the final authority in the earth, not God. This is in accordance with Christian theology, which I ascribe to.

The question of theodicy
That's a fancy way of saying somewhat the same thing you said in one of your comments, SuccessWarrior - why would God allow something like this to happen, and is it really in His plan at all? Nobody has ever come up with a completely satisfactory answer to that question.

Cantey, I agree but so many people like to put god into the equation
When you do that, you make god look bad.

its a matter of perspective
you say the church burned down because God is " damned mean". I say it burned because, very probably, due to human carelessness or neglect.

I don't know if believers think that god is the direct cause
or if they think it's his plan because he allowed to happen. Does god go around destroying things to make life rough for people or does he just let it happen to make life rough for people? I'm not sure there's much of a difference. And why would god pick the church doing so much for the community? He's just damn mean is all I can think of.

if he believes God burned down his church
in accordance with " His plan" than he is grossly deceived.
