writing, for me, helps objectify my experiences. If I can put my past into a narrative, it begins to make more sense, and I can learn better from it. I have been out of prison for almost 7 years now, and do believe there is enough space, time, and life between my incarceration and who I am now to write it. And yes, I know what you mean about it feeling like I'm writing about another person (or in some cases, another person's DREAM). And you know what? I am. I'm no longer that person, in the same way that in 10 years I won't be the person I am now. Does that make sense?

does it feel as though you are writing about somebody else 's life?
as if it happened to someone else, and that you have had a few lives already. My life feels like that, I think I have had four lives already, too many before and after...
Can you look at it with sufficient detachment to the extent that you call it "writing material", this notion, I find hard to grasp, I just cannot do that for myself because if I think of something, it takes me right back and time is suspended, the objectivity tends to get lost.

Thanks for reading. My prison life is a writing subject too long neglected: a wealth of material!
