He still has his civilian job and given I have big plans for some work with the troops his retirement should occur at the exact right time to put into effect what I am working on in my head right now.

I suspect you are asking for the same reason I have concerns that Carl will come home and tell me in two year that he just signed the papers for another 2 or 4 years.  He is a soldier the rest is just stuff.  To be honest part of my own plans are very selfish, if I can keep his foot in the door with the military without actually being IN the military he may not feel compelled to stay longer than 20 years.

He does a good deal of volunteer work with our organization and with the VFW as well.

Most days I am simply used to it.  I just don't like being reminded from time to time.  I sure wish 08 would get here soon!
