- Go to Who Doesn't Get it Concerning Iraq?
Welcome, Dnace!
Yes, I am painfully aware of Murtha's service record. It makes his current conduct even more offensive. Whatever insight he has into warfare is what prompted my sarcasm over how he has apparently forgotten the real hells of war in the Pacific.
Interesting comparison between the US and Iraq. To make it more accurate, compare Iraq with America in the years immediately following the British surrender. Iraq has progressed far more quickly towards a consitutional democracy than we ever did, and unlike Iraq we didn't have a bunch of religious fanatics trying to undo the work from within.

So...
Are you aware that Rep. Murtha was in the Marines and fought in Vietnam? I think he has a pretty clear idea of what war is really like from the inside - unlike the President and Vice President who avoided that particular cake walk. I believe that the point Rep. Murtha makes is that the information presented by this administration was not accurate in terms on content and analysis leading the nation into the current situation.
Yes, there was an election in Iraq. Would you say that the US was a functioning democracy if there was an election and only people on the east coast voted because the rest of the country was blowing each other away or living with only 2 hours of electricity a day?
