Darrke, that sums it very nicely. Thank you.
That's what I was trying to say.  If I come up with a solid plan that I think works for me, that's all I have to concentrate on.  And yes, I do wonder when this great new body will show up.  If I keep at it though, it's a matter of when and not if.

Thor, I still get like that. I used to run so much that this starting over
has had its frustrating times.  I've had to get over the "I used to" and just concentrate on what I am now.

Sounds like a great attitude...
If you are doing everything that you should, then the body that shows up ought to be the best one you could have, don't you think?  (The only question I have is how long does it take to arrive?)

Ohh, you are rubbing it in now!

Trifecta of jealousy here!  I usually try to run 4-5 times a week in teh woods near me with the dogs of which I blog.  I hurt my knee playing soccer almost two years ago and only this past spring was I able to bear weight enough to run again.  I couldn't run for so long! As a sympathetic friend offered, "But I bet you didn't stop eating."  Actually I ate more out of frustration. I gained 30 pounds of front porch and even though I hide it on my 6-6 frame somewhat, shirst just suddenly seemed to protrude not at the chest, but at the belly.  How embarrasssing.  When I started running, I had to run and walk, as a lifelong runner that was degrading and depressing.  Lately our extemes of weather New Oregon have caused first a closure of teh forest for fire danger, and now muddy conditions on clay trails that make them impassable.

So, if i run in my hood, it's all hills, steep hills at 7500 feet.  I have been a weenie and haven't run much.  Now I'm gonna get out there and run somewhere.

Thanks for the story and picture that encourage me--is the pic you?

I think I'm into the 7th week since I got serious about my fitness level

I haven't lost any weight but many of the changes I made are now just part of my life.  I eat the way that I want to.  I lift weights every day.  I'm working the running out and I'm getting close on that.  I'm more concerned with getting the pieces together.  My weight and fitness will work themselves out as I get everything in place and just keep doing it.

As you know, one of the "secrets" is to keep doing it.  3 months is great.  Most people have given up way before then.

I joined a gym about 3 mos ago.

I was honestly shocked at how long it's taken me to get back in shape. I thought I'd work out for a month and wahlah!

Sadly, it's an uphill battle that I seem to lose more often than not. But I'm a tenacious person who doesn't give up easily.
